Barry Allen was haunted by the past, but he was also haunted by the present of things, most notably the "Civil War" of the Marvels, lead by Carol Danvers, who wanted to prevent the future, against the former captain marvel, Monica rambeau, who wanted to protect the future, as the visions from Ulysses couldn't be trusted unlike Carol who believes Ulysses could be some help....and well knowing the likes of Bruce were killed and Jen in a coma, as well as the populace's demands for heroes to change, Barry, whenever it was unconsciously or on purpose, decided to go back in time during this moment, trying to fix the changes, thinking to some extent it could fix the chance to avoid the 2nd war of the marvels....which backfired all too familiarly, namely resulting in a timeline in his words "Not what it was, both familiar and unfamiliar" namely a timeline in which Bruce's father was Batman, Uncle Ben was Spider-man, Kryptonians are in fact the Vultrimites of their timeline, and Amazons and Atlanteans are at war with the Kree and Skrulls....but there were also more unfamiliar faces such as a "Draconic Princess stuck between Dawn and Dusk" as well as several "demon-hunting organizations" and a supposed "Omni-Changeling" running amuck.....

And while his mother was alive, all of it was too much to live in, thus after a long trip trying to figure out who changed it(spoilers, was still Barry secretly saving his mom) Barry would have reverse the supposed DrawVerse Flashpoint world....but at the cost of losing his own connection to the speed force, or namely it's full potential, he has heighten reflexes and brain processing, as well as heighten metabolism....but not his super speed or lighting generation....and thus, by the time the war ending(which was a stalemate) Barry would retire the mantle of the flash....leaving Wally West the newest Flash....just in time for that same draconic princess and omni-changeling to come out as the return and rise of a new generation of heroes and crossovers.

Barry can't help but believe that paradoxical adventure would have changed things for the better or worse with all the foreshadowing of unfamiliar faces. Too bad a familiar yellow stan would not stand for this legacy change.

FYI, no I don't hate Barry Allen for this to happen, mainly it's a story element regarding the case of "legacy" and namely how would the flashpoint paradox would play a role in the current DrawVerse facts, and how no matter how hard Barry or any time traveler tries, some events will or are canon and that it was a matter of time before the missuse of powers comes with a karmic price, with Barry's case being well losing his super speed. Although it was for the best, less he has to deal with more worse outcomes . Or be stuck in the dceu with George Coolney Batman.
