Has anyone ever heard Mayday Parade's version of Somebody That I Used To Know? I love it so much, I think they did a great job adding their own style to the song while still staying true to the original! <3IT'S RUNE AGAIN!!!!! I'm sorry if anyone's getting sick of seeing her, I'm just on an OC-bender lately! ;w;
I wanted to draw a sketchy picture of her with extremely simple shading, the focus being on her eyes, and this was the result!
I just don't know why the hair had to be so hard to shade.. Idk why, but every time I 'fixed' it, it just looked worse. :/

I love the Punk Goes Pop series too~ ^^ But oh god, it's impossible to find one or a few good songs by Mayday Parade. xD Most of them are great haha!
Their early album A Lesson in Romantics is probably one of their best ever, there's not a single dislikeable song on there. I generally listen to the entire album in one go because all the songs are so great. But if I REALLY had to pick a few favourites by them...
Three Cheers for Five Years (Acoustic version) and Terrible Things are probably their saddest songs and were actually capable of making me cry. >u> Which I went actively looking for, songs that can emotionally move me, so if you're looking for that too, those two are a good choice~

Jamie All Over, Jersey, 'If You Wanted A Song Written About You, All You Had To Do Was Ask' andΒ 'You Be The Anchor That Keeps My Feet On The Ground, I'll Be The Wings That Keep Your Heart In The Clouds' are all very pretty songs, probably my 'favorites' from the album (very hard to choose tho, honestly, you have to listen to the whole album). xD Their other albums are alright, I've listened to a few of their other tracks but they lost one of their vocalists and it just... didn't feel the same. I was equally addicted to both of their voices and their songs felt empty without their duets of sorts. q-q But maybe you will like the other albums anyway, but I would definitely, definitely, definitely start with A Lesson in Romantics, such a damn beautiful album, unquestionably one of my favourites of all time.

My favourite cover from Punk Goes Pop... that's a SUPER hard one XD But I can list a few that I really like. A Skylit Drive's cover of Love the way you lie, I see star's Til the world ends, We came as Romans' Glad you came and I knew you were trouble aaaaand Like Moths to Flames' Some Nights. Though I like quite a few, these I LOVE.
And IKR. It has that piano melody as well and it just strikes your heart in a particular way and next thing you know the waterworks begins. quqΒ
God tho I listened to EZ and that is just-- //clutches chest

Yeah! XD I love how long their titles are, when people ask "what are listening to?", I tell them so and the expressions on their faces are hilarious haha XD
I mean sometimes if they change members I don't mind so much, because it's like a new era, the music can be appreciated in a whole different way, I get that. Like with what happened to Escape the Fate, or blessthefall. But say... the change Breathe Carolina recently underwent, with Kyle leaving and the entire genre being warped from electro-punk to club music? That... makes me sad. Or sometimes when the band just changes direction altogether. Like Bring me the horizon, their new music is nice but I liked the metal edge they used to have. Or Linkin Park ever since Minutes to Midnight. xD Same thing happened with my favourite band ever, Closure in Moscow. They changed quite a bit in their newest album, Pink Lemonade, which I was REALLY looking forward to because I loved their first album and EP, but they lost that... gutteral rock sound they used to have and I dunno, I just felt disappointed. I mean, it's up to the artists to do as they like, I respect that, but it's sad knowing you're not going to get what you used to love anymore.
BUT RANT OVER. I'm glad you've found Mayday Parade because they are a gorgeous band and truly deserve appreciation~ Also very happy that you don't mind me rambling because I too love talking about music but there just aren't many people who share my taste as thoroughly. I have like... maybe one close friend who likes the stuff I like, maybe a touch less diverse than my tastes (I enjoy music that ranges from progressive rock to electro-punk to metal/post-hardcore to orchestral/soundtracks to dubstep/dance to acoustic to... whatever the hell Mindless Self Indulgence is, to something like vocaloid xD), so when I do find someone who shares a good portion of my music taste and doesn't mind gushing over it just as much as I do, I am very happy~!
And oh, my favourite bands... Closure in Moscow, The Mars Volta (these two are both pretty obscure but their lyrics are the reason for why my English is quite good XD ...although I am monolingual LOL) Breathe Carolina (omg Breathe Carolina... bless their faces), The Devil Wears Prada... tbh whatever's going on in my deviantID under favourite beats. xD Although there's much more than that admittedly. I can have appreciation for any band with glorious vocals, well-thought lyrics and an interesting beat or solid instrumentals. I also generally much prefer male vocals but The Veronicas, Within Temptation, Evanescence, and Eyes Set to Kill all impress me very much with their female artists. Very true! I mean, no offense to Paramore, but I kind of thought when the Farro brothers left the band, that was it for them, but they came back with music that was every bit as amazing as their previous stuff! I was like, I'm so glad I was wrong, because I love this album so much! XD
Eww... Like, I think club music that is MEANT to be club music is cool, but warping a genre to sound like club music?! No! It sucks that Kyle's leaving had such an unfortunate effect on the music. D:
Omigosh, I feel the exact same way about 3 Doors Down!!! I mean, I've liked a couple of songs off of each of their albums since Away From the Sun, but I don't think any of them have been anywhere as good since then! It's like they lost their magic, which is sad! And their newest album, Us and the Night, was just so disappointing, because it was honestly just a bunch of noise, in my opinion.
[Don't you just hate that? When you try to listen to an album, but the entire time it feels like you're listening to the same noise over and over again, because none of the songs are very good, and they all happen to sound the same?! >.<]
Speaking of music and hate, I was just wondering.. Have you ever tried to show someone a song, and they just give it no chance at all? My mom does that to me all the time and I think it's so annoying! Honestly, I was trying to show her a song a few weeks ago, and it literally only took her eight seconds to go "NO. No." And she wouldn't listen to any more of it. Then, weeks later, I was playing a later part of the SAME song out loud, and she's like, "Who is this? I really like it!" And I was like... MOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!! D:<

My absolute favorite songs by The Airborne Toxic Event are Changing and The Graveyard Near the House! I found Changing first, but I just.. love The Graveyard Near the House! It's so beautiful, and the message of the song really pulls me in! Kind of like Death Cab For Cutie's "I'll Follow You Into the Dark," the theme is about being with someone forever, no matter what, and even after everything ends. I just really love the last part of the song, the way he sings, "'Cause it's better to love whether you win or lose or die. It's better to love whether you win or lose or die. It's better to love, and I will love you 'til I die." //Sorry if that's too morbid!

Each Coming Night by Iron & Wine ~ It's a very stripped down style, but it's really amazing!

Here Is Gone by The Goo Goo Dolls ~ It's more mainstream, but it's one of my all-time favorites. I love the music, I love the lyrics, I love his voice.. It's just all around amazing! ^^
