Description My first political and historical themed painting i did in my entire life. This painting is for my University class on arts in politics called 9066. A depiction of the Japanese Internment camp for my university assignment on arts and politics. This painting is inspired by four of Jacques-Louis David's artwork, The Death of Socrates, The Intervention of the Sabine Women, Leonidas at Thermopylae, and The Anger of Achilles.

I painted this picture based on David's Neoclassical style of interpreting current events like the French Revolution with historical scenarios in art. In 9066, this scene depicts Japanese Americans walking to an Internment Camp showing mix emotions while American soldiers raise their hands symbolizing national pride. This scene correlates with the issues on Immigration, Racism, and history repeating itself. The title 9066 is based off Executive Order 9066, an ordered passed by Franklin D. Roosevelt for a mass evacuation of Japanese Americans to internment camps based on the possibility of spies and espionage among the Japanese Americans.
