....................................
Name: Meagan “Meg” Marshall — Vector
Age: 20 yrs
Birthday: March 3, 1991
Gender: Female
Height: 5’ 7” (at least 5’8” with heels)
Weight: 145 lbs
School: The Higher Order
Grade: College Sophomore (i.e., Grade 14)
Power: Portal Production
Category: Transportation
Meg creates shadow-like portals . It’s superbly easy for her to create one for herself. A flick of her mental wrist, and she’s gone. Making portals for others? Yeah, no. It takes a little more than the urge to screw with someone to create those. The higher her level, though, the easier it becomes. Duh. She creates the portals via some wacky little pocket dimension she found when she started using her powers. It’s not much, but hey, it gets the job done.
Oh, right, There’s also a limit as to how far she can reach. And obviously, the higher her level, the farther she can go. Thanks, Captain Obvious.
Level:
Φ 1: Portals can only be formed on solid surface and only allow Meg through.
Portals collapse after she passes.
She can only form one portal, and MUST have an idea/picture of where the “exit” should be located.
Exit must be located within a 100-foot radius.
Φ 2: Portals allow one other person through.
Meg can hold the portal for three minutes.
Exit must be located within a 250-foot radius.
(Total: Meg + 1 per portal)*
Φ 3: Portals allow additional two people through.
Portals can be held for five minutes.
Exit must be located within a 500-foot radius.
(Total: Meg + 3 per portal)*
Φ 4: Meg does not need to pass through portal to allow others through (i.e., portals can be held open from either end).
Portals can be held for eight minutes.
Exit must be located within a 750-foot radius.
(Total: 3 per portal)
Φ 5: Portals allow another two people through, and can be held for ten minutes.
“Exit” portals will “find” an appropriate exit spot (i.e., a wall) as long as Meg directs them to the general area she wants.
Exit must be located within a quarter-mile (approx. 1300 feet) radius.
(Total: 5 per portal)
Φ 6: Second, simultaneous portal can be made to a different location (i.e, each portal to a different landing point).
(Total: 5 per portal)
Φ 7: Portals can be created without an exit portal.
Those who pass through are hidden in the pocket dimension.**
Meg MUST be present within the dimension to create the exit portal.
Exit must be located within a 1600-foot radius.
Φ 8: Exit portals can be created outside of the pocket dimension (i.e., Meg DOES NOT have to pass through into the dimension).
Exit must be located within a 1900-foot radius.
Φ 9: Portals can be made anywhere, including in air and liquid surfaces.
Portals allow and additional two people through.
(Total: 7 per portal)
Φ 10: Portals can be held open indefinitely from either end.
Exit must be located within a half-mile (approx. 2600 feet) radius.
*Meg MUST be the last person to pass. She can hold the portal open while others enter, but the portal WILL close once she has passed through.
**Humans can remain within the pocket dimension indefinitely (or until they succumb to dehydration/starvation/mental breakdowns). There is a suitable atmosphere for oxygen. It is simply empty.
Power Professor: Desmond Kiels
Personality: Major attitude adjustment required. You have been warned. Meg’s favorite past time is putting that power of hers to “good” use. That is, pranking the hell out of people. She likes to play the tough kid on the block, and holds a pretty nasty grudge against “normal” people. Honestly, she doesn’t give a damn about most, mutant or otherwise, and lets you know it. With snarky comments and the occasional fist to the face. Maybe more than the occasional one.
Meg is pretty quick to anger, and enjoys taking out that anger with Mr. Lefty and Ms. Righty. Violent? Maybe just a tad. But she’s also a strategist, at least in fights. She’ll use her skills and environment to her advantage. Outside of a fight, though, she can be brash and impulsive.
History: Not much to say here. Powers started showing up halfway through senior year, just as college acceptances (and deferrals, the assholes) were coming in. Meg had planned on staying in NYC, where she was born and bred, but the minute those freaky holes-in-the-walls started popping out of nowhere, she figured it was time to high-tail it somewhere where people actually knew what was going on. Not without playing a few innocent pranks first, though.
Actually, that was probably the biggest mistake she’d made thus far in her short life. Letting others in on her secret. Wasn’t long before they started wanting in on her powers, and when she couldn’t get them to pass through the portals, they figured she was either 1) holding out on them, or 2) a freak not worth their time. So, yeah, those last four months of high school sucked pretty hard. Parents tried to make up for it, but there was only so much they could do when Meg spent most of her daylight hours at school.
Sob story over, and on to The Higher Order, where she’s found plenty who are willing to hit back when she pranks them. Which she enjoys. Immensely. Classes aren’t bad, but besides her power class, she really couldn’t care less about them. English and fine arts? Please, she left that back in high school. Math’s not a total bummer, though, so there’s your silver lining.
Extras:
Φ Curfew? Not leaving school grounds? Uh, hello? Portals girl, right here. Yup, Meg has no qualms about sneaking off school grounds. Matter of fact, she wears each disciplinary action against her as a badge of honor. Hell, if she could push someone else to go with her, she’d do it. Just for the lulz.
Φ Speaking of leaving school grounds, she really likes the idea of sneaking on to the X-Institute’s property to play jokes on those pansies. Always a pleasure to see the shocked look on their faces when they’re ambushed by a figure coming from nowhere. Makes her feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.
