Description
In a solar system on a rocky planet sits a large building structure on top of a hill. A soldier walked out onto a landing platform and lowers a set of binoculars on his helmet, looking through the scopes.
“This is the deck officer checking in. Nothing going on… As usual.”
His report was coming through a radio, leading back to the main room. Two soldiers were arm wrestling, with music being their entertainment as another trooper walked in, reading a holographic tablet. The victor of the arm wrestle slammed the losers hand down.
“Yes! Who’s next? Sig?” He asked excited
“Uh, shouldn’t you be watching your scout Cal?”, the one who was reading asked.
“Yeah! Let’s take a look”, Cal said as he turned and presses the button to his console. The screen lit up to show the outside of the base.
“Well look at that! All clear.” His face turned bored, “Just like the last hundred times I checked on it.”
“Personally, I like the quiet. I can catch up on the reg manuals.”
“Raikes what is wrong with you? We should be out there on the front lines blasting wardicons.” Cal said to raikes, the now identified trooper who was reading.
“Ah leave ‘em alone. He always was more a bookworm then a fighter”, the trooper next to call said. They both share a laugh at him. Raikes went back to his screen, ignoring the two.
Cal changed his gaze to a soldier who was sitting at a monitor, “You may not realize yet Sig, but you landed on the most boring outpost of the outer rim.”
“And one of the most important”, a new voice spoke. He was carrying his helmet with his arm, holding it on his side. His facial features showed off a few wrinkles on his face, gray hairs showing through his head hair and his voice sounded older than the others, considering they were all rookies except him.
The soldier next to cal presses a button, a lightly tuned alarm sounding off, which caused all the soldiers present to stand up straight.
Raikes calls out, “Attention, Sergeant on deck!”
The senior officer looked at his men, then addressed them, “Adease.”
“Even though you’re all new here, I shouldn’t have to remind you that this quadrant is key to the outer rim. If the cons get past this station, it means they can surprise attack all of the facilities in this sector. Destroying all the training facilities and current bases where so many young are being trained for service and troops being active.” The troopers being present nodded at their commanding officer.
“There’s some officers on the way. So I want everything squared away for inspection. Understood?” He asked.
“Sir yes sir.” The troopers said in unison.

Little to their attention, a collection of meteors was traveling to the station from space. Along with something else to greet them.
