Description Hi, my name is Jake. I’m a three-year-old blue heeler. I love people, playing with other dogs, treats, going for walks, and playing fetch. Everyone tells me that I have a great smile and seem to love petting my soft coat, which is just fine with me! I’m so happy to have a fenced yard to play in and I don’t dig or bark, but my foster family has just recently shown me how wonderful it is to be inside, to have a soft bed to sleep on every night and a box full of toys to play with. They tell me that I’m a very good dog for understanding that I still need to go outside to go to the bathroom. My fosters have also introduced me to some things that I’m still not too crazy about like baths and hardwood floors and being crated. But, even though I don’t like these things very much, I trust that these people are trying to help me so I do what they tell me to. I’ve gotten pretty used to the baths and the floors, but to be honest I still really don’t like being crated.

Over all, life is pretty great right now. But my future is anything but certain. You see, I’m a ‘vicious dog’. Nobody but me and a twelve-year-old kid know exactly what happened that day, but it is true that I bit him. It may be that he was teasing me or scaring me somehow. Or maybe it was all due to the female dog in the yard that was in heat and I kind of lost my mind for a minute. Neither one of us had been spayed or neutered, you see. Our owners didn’t think it was important. I am glad the bite wasn’t severe and that the kid is ok. But I know my foster mom is worried. She hugs me every day and tells me that she is going to do everything she can to make sure I’m safe. But she has too many dogs already and can’t keep me forever. And the rescues either don’t want to take a chance on me or are already full with other dogs that need help too. I sure hope someone sees past my label and gives me a chance. I know I am a good dog.

This picture sold at an auction for $75. I was very happy to raise some money for that auction.

This was probably one of my personal favorite foster dogs we have had due to his personality and back story. Also, as an early Christmas present, we received news that Jake was adopted. We also saw a picture of "Toki" laying on a big bed next to his owner who talking about how intelligent he is and how much they love each other. This is what makes fostering animals SO rewarding

Oh wow! this is beautiful! And I applaud you for being able to foster a rescue animal; that's something I could never do, because I'd get too attached. XD Anyways, I hope this rakes in a lot of money for the no-kill shelter cause!!!!

lol thank you, although both of my parents have had their time where they have gotten a little too attached to fosters, but it helped them shove that off because we already have three dogs.

Good to know that I'm not the only one who has three dogs. XD

But even so, it's still pretty hard to be a doggie foster parent. It's great that you and your family are able to do it, and there's a great need for it.
