Here are 3 WIP photo’s and the final scan to give you all a little idea how I create my drawing Sparrows fav.me/de1t2uc

1. First, I started with the background, because this way you can never cause damage to your main subject which is in this drawing the sparrows. I always start with a detailed base layer, during this phase I try to make clear were the light and dark areas should come.

2. During the second part I am working in small areas. I am going to add a lot of different layers, which create a smooth texture. I am adding also more different colors to the background, which are most often also lighter compared to the base layer.

3. In the third photo you can see I finished the first sparrow, which I made at roughly the same way. First a base layer, follow with more detailed layers.

4. The last photo shows the final drawing, where all sparrows are drawn. Also in this drawing you can see I made some changes to the background. I was afraid the background would be draw to much attention, so I added a few layers of green on top of it.
