UDON - Mega Man Tribute
Here is the piece that I was asked to do for the Mega Man Tribute book.
I usually start with traditional pencil on paper, but this one was straight digital. The tutorial is also posted in my gallery, so check it out!

This is how a Live Action movie should be.

"Let's face it, this is not the worst thing you've caught me doing." Awesome job, by the way. About how long did it take you to make this?

Haha! Great Iron Man reference. This piece was definitely inspired by the flick.
Thanks for the kind words about the work. I'm not exactly sure how long this one took, since I had to work on it in bits and pieces over the course of a week. I want to say it was about 12 hours from start to finish, with revisions. The stage that always takes the longest is the linework. Once that's taken care of, the colors are pretty quick, since it' really a paint-by-numbers process for this type of piece.

I wasn't sure if you'd get the reference. Wow! 12 hours? I wish I had your kind of patience to do something like this. My stuff always turns out like crap.

Oh, absolutely. I loved the first IM movie! The reason this one took a long time was because I kept working on it in bits and piecesβan hour one day, thirty minutes the next, so I kept changing direction and making edits. Had I been able to sit down and work on it in one night, it would have gone much faster.
And I understand what you mean, when it comes to sitting down for too long on one piece. That happened to the Mega Man above. I got sick of it, because I kept changing direction, and in the end, I just had to force myself to get it done, in order to get it in on time to print the Tribute book.
If you look in my gallery, for the Street Fighter / Bruce Lee art, that one took about 7-8 hours, in two sittings, because I knew exactly what I wanted it to look like.

HA! I like the comparisons. Oddly enough, those were a few of the thoughts I had in my head, as I was working on it.
