Im looking at this on my wifes computer and its really really contrasty. Its not supposed to be that dark. Is there a way to post an image without such differences between monitors (aside from asking everyone in the world who views my stuff to please switch to my monitor's profile

LOL, don't feel too bad about those CA contests. I didn't even make the pull the first couple of times. It's partly about the concept and your skill, but there's a lot more people related factor in it. As long as you have fun~

Nah, not bothered at all. Really what is the largest factor is the numbers(just sayin, but I really dont care). In many of the COW's there are usually a low number of participants (mostly cause most peeps do chars) therefore less votes to go 'round.
Mostly I do them to keep me motivated in sharpening my dull areas.
