Figured it was about time I half killed myself working on a picture.Foolishly, my sad-girl-in-the-snow picture made me think that I could colour pictures reasonably quickly. This one brought me back down to earth... although it "only" took a bit over a day, so I suppose that's not so bad.
I'll forgive myself the whole "staying up stupidly late" thing.
So, yus, this is the Mittens cast (...if you don't know what Mittens is, you'll have to go digging around my stuff - it's an ongoing joke, in a way). Watch in amazement as I draw a picture with multiple people, a background, some guys, a smidgen of humour, and some boobs for good measure.
If I keep this up, I might start thinking I can do this art thing

Great piece, that's one sweet composition. Nice addition of humor in this one. Rather than focus on the details (all of which are superb), I just really like how "whole" this picture seems. Very hard to do, but you pulled it off well. Oh, and I really like the lighting techniques...

I am ashamed to admit that said "lighting techniques" were actually a result of my initially intended approach looking kinda crappy, and fiddling around with crude hacks until I found something that worked better...

That may be true, but there's a good rule to remember- "if it's stupid, but it works- it's not stupid". And crude hacks or not, it looks fine to me.

Boobs for good measure are always good. (Pardon the redundancy.) Nice to see you working on more complex pictures again.
Also, suggestion: take a look at Supreme Commander's design style. It seems to jive fairly well with the (few) robots you've drawn. You could draw some inspiration from that game... if you can bring yourself to stop playing it, that is.

SupCom's a game where you have literally hundreds of robots of various sizes and designs smashing hell out of each other.
