A commission I made for MakaIzu (Check them out on DeviantArt, they got some absolutely brilliant work! www.deviantart.com/makaizu )Was one of the most fun commissions I've done, especially since the person who commissioned me was super nice and friendly!
The original character reference was given to me so I got to have fun with the overall design!
The outfit is heavily inspired by Italian and German WW1 uniforms and gear but I took a few liberties here and there and mixed it with some WW2 era us gear to make it look more sophisticated.
I also mixed in elements of sharpshooters, such as the helmet, which has a plate on the front end, similar to WW1 era german snipers.
There are also horse riding boots and other things needed for such activities.
One of the more interesting parts was working on the shading. I'm trying to learn how different fabrics and materials work. Of course, I'm stylizing some stuff but I want to try to give off the illusion of realism to an extent. Hopefully I can keep getting better at it through practice!
