Characteristics
The physiological aspects of the vampyre are significantly different than a humans. Although they share similar features in terms of their outer appearance, their biology functions differently. Being neither alive nor dead their skin is always cold and deprived of warm flesh tones, taking a more cooler color in appearance. They are marginally stronger and faster than a human, but only to the extent the human body is capable of. Their senses are greatly enhanced particularly their hearing, smell and sight. They can see in complete darkness, smell a drop of blood up to a quarter mile away and hear four times better than a human. They also possess an accelerated healing factor that allows them to heal from minor and near fatal injuries. It's been debated whether they can regenerate limbs or not, thus no proven cases have been documented.

Diet
Their diet consists mostly of blood, particularly from the same species as them i.e. humans but they can also ingest animal blood for sustenance. Blood is all they need to survive, although some will eat flesh as well. If too much blood is consumed, a vampyre could get intoxicated and their motor functions, reasoning skills and senses will be greatly impaired.

Reproduction
Vampyres have similar mating practices as a human. Sexual orientation and various sexual acts vary from vampyre to vampyre, although they usually keep such activities to themselves with little to no human involvement. Any sexual encounters with a human is considered taboo and is even outlawed in certain territories. A female vampyre is sterile and incapable of impregnation, however male vampyres are able to reproduce with a human which usually results in a dampyr offspring. Typically a vampyre has the ability to turn a human into another vampyre through a risky and dangerous ritual. Once a human is considered to become a vampyre, they must seek approval through a council of vampyre superiors. After the council gives their approval, the human must exchange blood with their appointed vampyre. If the human body accepts the blood they will become a new vampyre, but if their body rejects the blood they will die a slow agonizing death.

Weaknesses
Rumored to be descended from the God of Darkness, the vampyre's body has developed a weakness to sun light. They can survive for limited time in direct sunlight, but their abilities will be severely reduced and extended exposure could be fatal. Stories have said they are weak against garlic and holy objects, however, their is only some truth to these claims. They have a mild intolerance to garlic, but not enough to kill them instead garlic is used more to interfere with their senses. Holy objects can harm them greatly only if they are from a greater plain of reality otherwise known as the Aether realm. Although they have accelerated healing, they can be killed by traditional means: dismemberment, impaling, burning, maiming, drowning, etc.
