Yeah, that's the idea but just combat for now (pre-alpha) and when we nail that we'll have some adventure mode as well

Really good looking game , need some animations but still a really good idea and execution.

Thanks, abilities are kinda broken atm as the gameplay hasn't been maintained in quite a while and also lacks online multiplayer.
Will probably go for some funding soon and fix that along with animations, here's a small sample AncientBeast.com/viewer

That animation looks really smooth , if you manage to make all of them like that the game will look Killer .

Thanks, I sure hope so, though I'll have to pull a lot of strings to make things happen

Yey Some more listed here AncientBeast.com/units#creatur…
This is how the units are eventually gonna look like ancientbeast.com/viewer/ but I'm thinking if to focus on a pixel art version of the game first xD

Yeah, well working with a lot of people and sometimes each one of them tends to put his finger print on the evolution of the project one way or the other.

Thanks, it will improve a lot with time.
Always keeping an eye to get more people involved in the project, since it's open source.
So if you're willing to help out a bit now and then as well, it would be greatly appreciated : )
I mean like even as little as a few hours / month does wonders for the project.
We're using blender to make all the creatures in 3d, but even "fan art" speed sculpting and such would be cool.
Let me know if you're up for it.

Hi! Welcome to #PokemonFanGames ! Thanks for joining the group.

I am afraid this deviation belongs to the Misc. folder, as it's related to game creation but is not directly about a PokΓ©mon fangame. I'll move it. Next time, please take care to read the folder's descriptions before submitting.

Good luck with your project!

Thank you! Wasn't sure between the two folders.
I noticed the note now, sorry about that.
I got a bit greedy regarding exposure ^^

are those creatures animated or static?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DreadKnight666 In reply to rajacic [2013-01-14 16:42:22 +0000 UTC]

For now they're static, but pretty soon (in a few versions) we'll start adding animated creatures, as we're making all of them in 3D (small animation example here [link] )

amazing demo i like that 3D guy . I have another question since i'm a programmer myself, i'm curious what programming language did you used to make this?

DreadKnight666 In reply to rajacic [2013-01-14 17:31:57 +0000 UTC]

Glad you like it. It's using web languages as mentioned on the homepage [link]
You know... php/javascript/html/css, that kind of stuff

rajacic In reply to DreadKnight666 [2013-01-14 17:49:42 +0000 UTC]

html 5 can do magic things these days
by the way i use java for my development, you can check out irajacic.com that is my personal developer blog
but i know php/mysql/html/css/javascript and jquery i saw your comment on my animated insect ha ha ha

Mhm. I see, left a comment on the blog (awaiting moderation).
Well, this project is free open source, so I'm always looking for more contributors.
If you have the time and skill and would like to get involved, then maybe we can work something out

rajacic In reply to DreadKnight666 [2013-01-14 18:03:45 +0000 UTC]

yep i am approving comments now, because spam bots flooded my site. Well i can not promise you anything, since i work on several project at this time. Can take a peek on your API for this game? and i will tell you if im interested. Those web oriented programimming and script languages aren't difficult at all. At least not to me. I have done few web sites in php from scratch. Check out webresenja.com for example. Done in notepad..

DreadKnight666 In reply to rajacic [2013-01-14 18:09:54 +0000 UTC]

The source code of the project is available on github
[link] (we're making good use of it's issue tracker as well)
Hehe. Well, I'm a bad coder overall and I have issues properly grasping javascript for now, so I usually don't touch the gameplay coding myself, but I've coded the website though. Anyway, I like coding from scratch as well usually and I avoid frameworks.
I could teach you about bitcoins and how you can earn some (could even reward you for contributing to Ancient Beast) since I've seen you can't use paypal.
On the website you should probably swap that default commenting system with something way better and less spammed, called disqus [link] It integrates nicely even with wordpress and most other stuff.

i will send you my contact in note here, i think we can learn a lot from each other. And i like fact that you are ready to help out. I am like that too. Maybe we can make something cool together. I will check out that code for your project and i will let you know what i think about it. Its great to have organized code, with easy to use api, so you can have power of modularity i dont know if i said that correctly... One great thing about web design and web programming is that it is cross platform, so in that way you do not have to think about compatibility. I hope we will stay in touch. And by the way just to say one more thing, i was starting to develop in Java 2D game, but just for fun, to check it out, and it works great so far, i have created one character that walks on user input from keyboard.

DreadKnight666 In reply to rajacic [2013-01-14 18:37:54 +0000 UTC]

Awesome Yeah, I'm not into precompiled languages and low level programming and stuff like that since I think hardware is pretty fast nowadays so coders should have things easier and save some time.
I like crossplatform stuff, especially if it doesn't require executables/binaries for each OS or whatever.
I haven't been tempted by Java overall as it's basically a plugin and I find plugins for the web-browser a bad idea overall as well Yeah, I'm kinda picky like that. Most webcoders tend to think about browser compatibility on the other hand, but personally, I only care about webkit/Chrome/Chromium and a bit at most about Firefox (I do think gecko/firefox should die killed with fire, but competition is usually good none the less, I just don't like duplicating some of the code to support yet another browser rendering engine). I have to get some rest now because my eyes are burning, but I'll add you soon so we'll definitely keep in touch.

yes i understand and i agree with some of the things that you wrote. But its a fact that browser is not yet powerful enough to give you everything like prekompiled apps can. And java is pretty much cross platform. When i deploy java application it will work, on mobile phone, on Linux, Windows and Macintosh, and i have power to user everything that precompiled apps use.Ok mate i go now too cya!

is it possible you will make offline version?

DreadKnight666 In reply to bramindrawan [2013-01-14 03:56:35 +0000 UTC]

Downloadable? Yes, it's in the works (but would still need internet).
Playable offline? Probably, but somewhat later on. Main idea is to be able to play vs others, so implementing CPUs is not priority.
