Its' a bird... It's a plane! No, it's... Yeah, who exactly is it? Is it Scoots? Is it Spits?
Anyways, I commend on your style. The emotion is clearly visible (though I'm not sure of the reason behind it ). And the way you draw wings is amazing. Even angels have nothing on Dash in this picture. Great work!

It's scoot's feather! In the hypothetical situation in which she dies because rd was not fast enough to save her. it's actually cover art for a song my friend did. here is the link; [link]

This does explain much.
OK, let me put it this way: your cover art is brilliant, your friend's song... not so much. Not because I dislike metal (though I do), but because the theme of the song - death and loss - feels kinda weird when your friend tries to spit his lungs out on top of the heavy metal banging.
Well, that's only my humble opinion, however.
Truth be told - the scene you drew looks very peaceful, almost serene (albeit, of course, very sad). And the song is anything but it. True, I have not read the whole lyrics (and I couldn't stand to listen to them, based on my music preferences), but even the first notes of the song ruin every bit of serenity your cover art might have conveyed. Because, to put it bluntly, there is no peace and serenity in metal.
All of this is just my two bits, though.

Ok, while I see your point, but I disagree with you on that the song doesn't fit with the picture, so let me explain some things about Metal. Death and loss have always been central themes to Heavy Metal, though often in a different way than you meant. I know you're knowledge of Metal is very limited, so I'll explain some stuff. Metal comes in many different styles. When you think of Metal you probably think of Metalcore, Death Metal and Thrash Metal. The first of these was Thrash Metal, which got it's energy, agression, and anger from Hardcore Punk. Not all Metal all this influence, and yes, sometimes it is fairly peaceful and serene (example [link] ) , but that's irrelevant, as this really song isn't. Anyway, some Metal styles are sad and dark, like Doom Metal, which is frequently considered THE most depressing musical genre and is one of the oldest forms of Metal, which would tackle death and loss in a sorrowful way, which I think is what you meant. Now, this is a Metalcore, which is a fusion of Extreme Metal like Thrash Metal and Death Metal, and Hardcore Punk as well as Post-Hardcore, which is what the musical genre called Emo is based around. Emo takes the intense energy of Punk Rock and uses to express more introspective emotions as opposed to the political anger in Hardcore Punk. Screamo is a form of Emo where apparently the emotions are so intense the singer feels they are better expressed through screaming than melodic singing. I agree they sound ridiculous, but that's what they are supposed to do. The screams in Metalcore are more stylistically akin to the screams in Screamo than the growls in Death Metal, which are meant to sound inhuman, sound evil, and induce fear. Lyrically Metalcore is quite diverse and often is somewhere between the common lyrical themes of Hardcore Punk, Emo, and Extreme Metal. Frequently Metalcore has a tone of righteous anger or frustration, such as pleading for a friend to quite drugs in this song [link] , or a lamentful anger such as in this one [link] . This song is more in the lines of a lamenting, disperate anger, as lyrically the song is about Rainbow Dash being angry with herself as she grieves Scootaloo's loss. Now, you say the picture is peaceful, but in my opinion it really isn't. If you look carefully it's clear it's in the middle of a storm. In the picture Rainbow Dash is full of emotion, she is not peaceful and serene. I understand that not everyone likes Metal, but bashing a song of a genre that you don't like isn't really fair when you don't understand the genre. Ok, I'm sorry my explanation is overly long and preachy, I know you don't like Metal and your probably don't care about all of this stuff. I'm just trying to explain that song, and my Metalhead part got cared away.

Well, I won't agree with you here. It's true that I don't understand metal (or any of the modern music, to be honest--it all sounds like a drunken junkie banging a trash can over a brick wall to me ).
Regardless for my personal taste, thank you for attempting to explain it all to me. I have to admit though, that I didn't understand much of it (and the lack of any paragraphs made it even more difficult to process ), but you come across as a person who definitely knows his metal (heck, I personally didn't even realize there were so many different variations of it
), so I'm in no position to argue over something I have no knowledge about.
If I came across as bashing the song in my earlier comment (gosh, it was so long ago I don't even remember it ), then I clearly did something wrong. Because, as far as I'm concerned, I tried to praise the cover picture, not berate the song. So, if I sounded like I was trying to do the latter - I apologize.

haha, totally udnerstandable. I don't get offended by the fact that metalcore is not for everyone. it's loud and jarring and not for all ears. Personally this type of music is my favourite genre, but I can accept your opinion that you don't like it much. Cause it can be pretty abrupt, i'm aware! But I'm glad you voiced your opinion humbly ^^ And thank you very much for the compliments about my art.

You're most welcome.
Well, I was a little afraid about bashing your friend's song like that. It's not the first time, however, (and I don't expect it to be the last) that Bronies amazed me with our understanding attitude.

Yes, I am. That's why I said 'our' understanding attitude (instead of 'their'). But yeah, that could have been a bit misleading.

OK, so in my moment of brilliance (like Chancellor Puddinghead ) I clicked the download button, which zoomed the picture to an overwhelming 2600x2200 pics. It is then perfectly clear that the object in the sky is not an orange pegasus in the distance (as I had thought) but an orange feather close to Rainbow's face.
IT speaks volumes more, but still not enough to comprehend what had actually happened (and who the buck does the feather belong to - Scoots or Spits). Nevertheless, the emotion depicted in the image are still perfectly clear. And the wings are even more amazing.

While i want to say that it's scoot's feather, im reluctant to believe Scoot outflew Dash, so im leaning towards Spitfire. Even though Scoot makes much more sense.

Powerful piece... I am literally moved by this... You did a great job! The expression on Dash her face is speaking her emotions to me. Her wings are, as always when you draw wings, amazing! You are literally my favorite artist on this world ^^
One question though, this isn't a representation of how you feel, right? You know I can be a listening ear if you need it

No one seems to have commented on the fact that there's a freakin' yellow plume floating down from the sky.
Why, Dreampaw? Why would you draw this?
