"Diffident - Feeling hesitant and unconfident"Well it's been a while since I attempted a larger scale painting like this one.
Been working on it for about roughly 6 - 8 hours from saturday night till now so quite a bit of work went into this, of course it is inspired by the "Hurricane Fluttershy" episode with a few tweaks from the show's style.
The most noticeable of which is the wings, I chose to do the big and majestic to give fluttershy that shield/ protection from her resentment of under preforming and being useless. I'll leave the rest for you to interpret how you wish.

Once there was a little girl called Clarissa, she was ten-years-old and she lived in a mental
hospital, because she killed her mom and her dad. She got so bad she went to kill all the
staff in the hospital so the More-government decided that best idea was to get rid of her so
they set up a special room to kill her, as humane as possible but it went wrong the
machine they were using went wrong. And she sat there in agony for hours until she died.
Now every week on the day of her death she returns to the person that reads this letter, on
a Monday night at 12:00 a.m. She creeps into your room and kills you slowly, by cutting you
and watching you bleed to death. Now send this to ten other pictures on this one site, and
she will haunt someone else who doesn't. This isn't fake. apparently, if you copy and paste
this to ten comments in the next ten minutes you will have the best day of your life tomorrow.You
will either get kissed or asked out, if you break this chain u will see a little dead girl in your room

I really like this piece, especially in how it resembles many traditional images of people going up towards a spiritual light, or receiving comfort from the divine. With that idea in mind, I look at this much the same way, with Fluttershy ascending into the light of the divine, hesitant, afraid that she might be judged for her failures. Yet, the overall mood seems to be of reassurance. While Fluttershy herself is small, the light that shines upon her, and the sense of upward movement implies that everything's all right, and she has nothing to fear.
Basically, I take away from this that Fluttershy has died, and is now ascending to another level of existence, but one that is welcoming, and seeks to reassure her.

Yes I've had quite a few people mention that this resembles something along those lines and I find it quite fascinating to see what people take away form my work.
There is no wrong way to interpret this so I'm happy you thought so deeply about it. As an artist this is what I'd like to achieve, to get people thinking.

Eeyup, the improvement compared to the unfinished upload is evident. The water effects are awesome, and that glow from below makes for an interesting and decidedly cool effect. And them drops, too. Fluttershy looks like she's caught between two points of light, and the lighting and shadows are rendered even better than in the previous piece, which was already remarkable. Fluttershy remains great and lovely here. Well done!

The water effects were actually something new to me so I fond myself lucky that I was happy with them the first time I drew them.
I was happy with the way I did the lighting at the time but now it's been up for a while I'm picking out all the mistakes like i feel there
is too much white in fluttershy.

The water was something completely new to me, doing waves is hard enough but flying water and drops was something else.
I tried to keep all the focused elements in a funnel shape going up towards the top of the picture to make it a bit more uniform.
