Part Of a color study for me, I am doing the zodiac. Just portraits, but the focus is color and light, something I have great trouble with. If I want to improve, I have to stop drawing within my comfort zone XD
Anyway, I'm working up towards the way I want to color my commissions for and others. I know it's slowing down how quickly I complete the work, but I hope the work I give to them will be that much better for the effort.

Nice pic, but I have one major crit that should apply for your rat and cat, avoid the pucker between their muzzle and cheeks. Likewise between the eye and the cheeks. Even stylized, it doesn't look that great. Especially if your shooting for more anatomically correct. Most animals skulls, especially nimble little mammals known for squeezing everywhere, have streamlined faces and none of those icky pockets. The picture its self is great, but I recommend taking it easy on the pockets. =3

I see what you're talking about, and I am going to see if I can rectify that in the next piece. The shadows do seem overwhelmingly dark now that I have looked back on it. There were so many errors with these first two images, I'm so glad to have some outside crit <333

super cute! just one thing, rats do not have fur on the back of their ears and the nose is a bit wide.

Ok first off, I really like this one! The expression is amazing, well done!
As far as constructive criticism. I love the detail you put into it, though it is minimal, it really really works for this piece. I think a small suggest would be to maybe delete or remove the texture you have in his right ear, it looks a little off? Or maybe you were going for an older grungy look?
Other then that, I really adore this piece, that expression is just priceless and the pose, great job! I love how you colored this as well! keep it up hun, you are defiantly on the right track!!

Yes, someone pointed that out, and I fully agree. The texture just doesn't match the animal or the feel of his fur at all, in fact, it contradicts it in a way. Confusing the onlooker I think.
I'm hoping to fix these errors in the next piece as well as all the lighting and shading problems, or at least get a bit better XD

apart from the one major perspective issue i see, this is wonderfully coloured, textured, and shaded, a very different style than what we're used to seeing. I think you can go really far and do much more marvellous pictures if you develop this style enough.
do keep on going, this is wonderful, a giant leap from your older style, and who knows were it may lead you in future ^^
