so I finallyy let xen move on to a new home, since he never really had any story and was just fun to draw every now and again (at first he was even meant to be an adopt too before I got attached ahaha)
and since Demidemongaydess paid the full asking price for him (higher than usual due to the fair bit of art he has ), I threw in a ref revamp for free! including the floaty magic... thing I initially pictured him able to summon at will but never actually drew, partially due to feeling too inexperienced to get it how I wanted back then xD maybe it helps him teleport? or is a weapon or shield? who knows! that's for demi to decide now |'D

adopting him out and drawing this somehow got me in the mood to finish off more Guardians I've sketched and/or thought about now and again, sooo possibly expect more in the future~
won't be a hard 'species' with rules and such, just the following base blurb and info owners don't have to adhere to if they don't want :3c

each Guardian is the protector and embodiment of a certain element, be it air, foliage, love, etc.. they ensure that the energy of their respective charge flows properly and interacts with the others healthily, and each have a power specific to themselves. as Xen here is the Guardian of Dimension, he uses portals to effortlessly glide between space and time and can bend space to his will, to an extent.

as all Guardians are spirits, they have no genders and therefore no pronoun preference (so long as you refer to them respectfully). they also do not eat, drink, or sleep: rather, they absorb energy from their respective element. the Guardian of Water flows with the currents, that of the flame re-energizes from the Sun and and all burning pyres, and so on.

despite being incredibly intelligent and wise, Guardians are completely incapable of directly making any sort of sound. speaking with one is sort of a one-sided conversation, but you can understand what they mean by the feelings they convey to your spirit, as well as their body language and how they 'watch' you.

their 'masks' are their actual faces, are made of bone, and are completely static. Guardians are generally about a metre high, though it is said that some can alter their size at will. they're gentle and peace-loving, and will usually allow kind-hearted people to stroke their ultra soft fur, but never their faces. ༼ ಠل͟ಠ༽
