Isn't it? I love the name, and don't think I've ever heard another dog called that! The only drawback is her nickname is "Emmy", which is what I generally go by That gets confusing to be around!

GSD's come in all sorts of different colors, generally it is the GSD's that are actually from Germany/Czechoslovakia that have the darker coats (mine being one of those) In North America you usually just see the standard Black & Tans. My other GSD was what is called a "Silver", black and silver coat.

They always start out more black, and the black fades as they grow. It's part of being an agouti-based dog

Also, GSDs *are* allowed to be tan-pointed. It's not too common, but they can be pure black, tan-pointed (Like a Rottie), sable, or any variation between sable, and clear sable (fawn, with no saddle)

He looks like my dog, Duchess, when she was a puppy!
Except, being part Doberman, her ears have always stayed floppy.
