For years, I’ve been itching to do just a tiny bit of animation for Dreamkeepers, and now here it is!It’s traditionally animated - no Flash or computerized tweening. Although probably easier to animate with a newer program, I’ve always, and continue to find, genuine traditional cartooning much more appealing. Though Flash is getting better and better at simulating a traditional feel, there’s still nothing like the real thing in my mind.
We’re not really equipped for large animation projects, of course - but a flashlight and a glass coffee table can get you quite a ways for smaller endeavors like this one.
This clip was created for the new intro page on the DK site - [link] The old intro page was rather lackluster, so in preparation for some marketing schemes, we’ve spruced it up- pretty pictures, animating power users, the whole nine yards. I animated it in old Imageready software- it lets you play with layers in a photoshop file, creating animation frames, and then saving the file as a .gif animation.

Those things on Bast's back, what are they? Are they a part of his clothes, is it styled fur, or are they fins?

They're just stylized fur tufts- that element in particular was directly inspired by those tufts on Sonic's back. They looked too cool to avoid.

Wait... what's with the... oh wait, those things on Lilith are probably bandages from when Tinsel had tried to kill her, am I right?

Actually, it looks kind of like a corset...
And I just checked. Lilith has a slightly different version of this very same outfit, 'bandages' and all, in her first Prelude arc, AND when she runs into Mace at the market in Vol 1. It's probably a more practical version of some fashion, I'd guess. Flexible, and brings out the thin-ness of the waist. O3O

Hmm - I'm not sure if you can actually *make* drawings on DeviantArt. We draw all our stuff on paper, and color it in Photoshop - we just *post* the finished pictures on DA when they're done. I hope this is helpful, and also, welcome to DA! I hope you have a lot of fun.

Yeah this looks nice. and it would be so awsome if you could make some sort of title sequence( like a tv show) That would make me soooo happy and full of joy .

Well, it's not going to be a title sequence, but we are putting together a 15-second commercial with more animation in it.

I can't believe this is hand-drawn, you don't cease to amaze me. I'm going to be downloading both books and then saving to purchase hard copies.
My friend looked at this and said "Yo, it looks like Street Fighter all up in this b***h." Now everytime there is a fight I'm going to be expecting Bast to yell SHORYUKEN and uppercut someone's jaw off, not like that might be expected anyways.

Not really. I read about their process - the first sketches are done with paper and pencil, but the vast majority of work is done on the computer. Photoshop is really quite amazing when it comes to layers and stuff (and it's generally done with a stylus and tablet), but it still takes a lot of time.

I've recently become a big fan of this comic, and I jest like to say I love it! It's great!

This made me squee so dramatically I fell out of my chair, then scrambled up and ran laps around the room. Seeing these characters in motion makes it so easy to imagine this as an animated series.

I just went over to your site to see this puppy.... errr.... Dreamkeepers XD in action. Certainly livens up some things though I get an agonizing feeling something about the iintro page now feels unbalanced... Do you feel that way?

I do, a bit - there's less actual info on the intro page now than there was before.
But, all the important info explaining the Dreamkeepers concept is repeated conveniently in the 'Dreamkeepers' and 'Nightmares' pages in the Dreamworld section. So though the new page is more scant, I think it was necessary to shape it more for new browsers rather than pack it with too much distracting detail.
Meh... I could be totally wrong, but, I'll at least see how it goes.

Back to planet earth then, you know no bounds to pimp out Dreamkeepers (in a good way) The new intro page should and hopefully well bring in new reads to your colorful eye drugs and that great story to.
