Description
I was browsing the web for some doom nostalgia and i was a bit surprisedthat i didn't come across that much hell knight art. I guess fan art just didn't
happen that much back then. I decided to create some doom fan art myself
so i went seeking for some sprites. I tried as hard as i could to stay true to the
original character, or at least how i always interpreted it.
This one goes out to all the doom fanatics out there. I made this to keep
a spark of the old days alive. Let me know what u think guys.

Awesome artwork. Β The Hell Knight (& Baron Of Hell) is my favorite demonic enemy of all time. Β I also like to imagine a horrifying case of a person that got possessed by a Hell Knight. Β Can you imagine the trouble priests would go through to exorcise the monster from its host?

Well the original was based on a goats skull and the snout looked like the opening of one but this is good regardless.

Personally I find this a thousand times better than any of the art that takes the whole "goat" thing too literally. In the end, this one looks far more like the one in the game

I'm onl going by how it was done, there's the marbel images of the hellknight in game which show a higher res version of it's face, even the icon of sin was done that way.

The marble face itself doesn't look anything like a goat's skull, though. Just looking at a goat skull, there is barely a resemblance.Β
Just looking at Romero's original Baron sketch, you can see he never intended for a literal goat skull interpretation. None of the Doom monsters take a straight up approach to the stereotypical medieval demons.

Honestly, if they would've just made really detailed versions of the original demons (like they pretty much did with the "zombies" or "possessed ones" as I refer to them as), then they would've turned out scarier in Doom 3. Cacodemons are a good example, the old ones were scarier lookin'. On a side note, I'm surprised they took out the cyber-brain-spider-demon things..then again, I suppose they replaced that when they added the Cherubs, Trites, and Ticks :\ as far as creep factor goes not difficulty.

The Baron of Hell is a heck of alot stronger than the Hell Knight. Reason is that Barons take on more bullets and give off more damage than the Hell Knight, thus making them very uncommon.
This is pretty much how I have seen them as hell demons, so good work! It is a shame Doom 3 was more "modernized" and made the hell spawns more alien than demonic. What is worse is that I got the BFG: Edition, so the graphics make my eyes bleed.
