Description
Anti-social media.--
As new tech devices infiltrate our everyday lives, the simple, courteous gesture of social etiquette has all but been ignored.
I purposely obscured the characters' faces to emphasise the sense of 'disconnection' felt when observed by the viewer. Yes, I agree this is a more serious theme than usual, but it's an issue I feel strongly about.
My apologies for the long wait since my last submission, though with a recent, renewed sense of creative enthusiasm I'm going to attempt to churn out subsequent cartoons at a faster rate.

Wow and well done.
Kindle - Spindle is my favourite, though I have to shake my head on the face block...
The vision is amazing, there is a centre piece for Steve due to the gold armour attracting the eye so no complaints there. I love all the little details that you have put in, all centred on the pieces theme no less.
Merging minecraft with current technology trends is 100% original and is executed brilliantly, so well done there.
Technique is great here, no awful blending of textures in terms of depth. Though I dislike the trees texture by the enderman, not in my taste; can't decide on the background.
Impact is amazing due to the key techniques of dimension, centre piece, shadow and quirkiness.... e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

The message is never lost, the skeleton failing to notice being on fire, Steve walking into a chunk error, the monsters failing to notice Steve and everyone failing to notice the blue chicken.
----
Tips for improvement would be to make the Enderman be in water, make the zombie be in shade or also on fire and to make the spiders string more visible to avoid the floating look.

Thank you immensely, CptJoe, for your glowing critique; my smile grew ever wider as I read through it. I truly respect your time spent observing all the subtle details and aesthetics of the scene, as they're the elements I enjoy implementing the most.
Yeah, I too loathe Facebook, hence the twist on words.
I like to keep the backgrounds simple, so as not to compete with the main focal points.
Hehe.. yeah, though in case you didn't realise, the blue chicken represents the famed Twitter bird logo.
The zombie's lack of inflammation is made understood by his business shirt.
Thanks again for taking the time to express such wonderfully encouraging feedback.

I say! My dear sir, you have done an absolutely spiffing job on this piece! Let's see... Facebook, Kindle, Twitter, YouTube, iPhone, iPad, and an iPod! Flabbergasting! Every single little detail is taken care of! But, as with every other piece I critique, it has some flaws. Very minor ones. Yes, skeletons burn in sun, but zombies do too. Endermen teleport away from sunlight. Yes, I know what you're thinking. He's under a tree. but the sun is directly on him. Fire does not make shadows. Otherwise, this is the best Minecraftian concept of pop culture. I urge you to create more of these. You have shown that you can succeed in doing so.

Thanks for your honest critique, Ew-boi. I'm always happy to receive observational feedback. As for the zombie not burning you may have overlooked his shirt. You're right about the enderman, though again all the mobs are too distracted by their gadgets to realise any problems. Actually, fire does cast a shadow, although a weak one. Yes, I look forward to portraying more pop culture references in the future. Thanks for your comments.

Because there are two parts about this picture, the art and the idea, I will divide my critique as well.
The art.
The art is good, I enjoy the the characters and the background. A small thing that bothers me is that there is little shading in the grass, while the mob shadows are pretty detailed. The dirt is a little offset too, it might be your personal art-style color for minecraft, but a little darker and 'grainier' might do better.
The idea
While I am the kind of person who does not care for most of the 'philosophical' texts and messages, I do feel that you did manage to capture the idea in this pictures just perfectly.
Please note that these are my personal opinions (I always feel like a douche talking down to someone's artwork).

Thanks for your honest feedback on this piece, pixel; I appreciate the constructive criticism response more than any other, as it helps me improve as an artist.
About the grass, yes I agree it looks plain, but that is largely to contrast with the detailed characters and objects, else the scene would look overly busy and not be as clearly readable. I guess I could have sprinkled in a few more simple grass tufts here and there, but providing shadows for each and every blade of grass is out of the question (joke).
As for the dirt, the colours I use are sampled directly from the source, albeit with minor tweakage, though the default Minecraft dirt texture has both light and dark pixels so I went for a happy medium; also the lighter shade goes nicely with the light coloured grass, to impart a more cartoony feel to the image.
Yes, I too am most pleased with the concept; hopefully it will heighten awareness.
Thank you again, pixel, for your helpful critique.

This picture wins on not one, but three levels:
1. The overall obvious humor of "everyone's not looking where they're going"
2. The "Where's Waldo humor" when you look closely and see the funny details like the spider on a 'Spindle' (ROTFLOL!!!) or the Creeper watching 'YouCube'.
3. The very real and pertinent moral message conveyed to us.

Thanks. I'm glad you singled out these aspects, as they all combine to impart an important lesson about modern communications. This is my most favourite toon; maybe I'll tackle the thorny issue of social technology again sometime.

I find it sad how hardly anyone is caring about the true message of the picture.Β They don't talk about the anti-social message here and just talk about the cute things that don't matter as much.Β Just goes to show how careless people are of seeing the big picture.Β

I certainly agree, and over the years this 'face in device' mentality has only worsened. I'm sure I'll address this anti-social demeanor in cartoon form again some time soon. Thanks for acknowledging the 'big picture', Aka.
