Description
Here we see four of the members of the Bureau for Metaphysical Enforcement sporting prototypes of the Field Operations 'ATLAS' armour currently in development by a subsidiary of Fifth Energy PLC.Chief Inspector Lee Stainton (far left) carries a modified M66 assault rifle. It is unusual for a Chief Inspector to take a direct role in field operations, but with a staffing shortage in the Bureau, he 'fills in' when needed. (Lee also fell in love with the suit as soon as he saw it and there was no way he was going to miss out on the chance of giving it a road test!)
Jakobe Freeman (middle left), the Bureau's only other active Combat Mage demonstrates the non-restrictive features of the suit. While certain alloys can hinder the flow of magic, the ATLAS suit has no such restrictions, allowing a Combat Mage to work his talents freely whilst also being afforded significant protection from many dangers both physical and mystical. The materials are both fire retardant, frost resistant and non conductive. In addition, the fibres of the armour give excellent protection against blades and ballistic impacts.
Adam Galloway (middle right), the Bureau's 'model of choice' sports the same outfit. All ATLAS outfits carry a self-contained wireless power cell, allowing communications and other devices such as those worn by our models here to operate for extended periods of time. The power cell itself is charged through kinetic energy - movement of the operative while wearing the suit charges the power cell, thus keeping with Fifth Energy's primary mission statement of providing sources of clean and carbon-neutral energy.
The green tinted eyewear gives an excellent field of view, reduces glare, protects from UV rays as well as magically produced flares of light, and are made from a unique and patented blend of polymers that, once hardened, are as hard as titanium. They are also available in prescription strengths for Bureau operatives with visual impairments that normally require corrective lenses.
Finally, Pete Ellis (far right), the Bureau's technician also displays the ATLAS suit, and notes how light and nonrestrictive it is, especially since his role requires him to be able to operate in small spaces. This new development opens up new possibilities for the Bureau when deploying operatives into the field, allowing for a great range of skill sets available at any given time.
The ATLAS suit prototypes have been designed with practicality. Each suit sports the Bureau's logo, the operatives ID number, and their rank within the Bureau. Even the non-ranked Technician can be easily identified. The suit certainly has the approval of both the senior and junior staff of the Bureau. The final decision regarding approval, however, is yet to be made.
