Lee shrugged Pete’s jacket off his shoulders and handed it back while Billy very carefully wheeled a motorcycle in front of the makeshift backdrop. When Lee turned around to look at it, his eyes widened a little, which did not go unnoticed by Pete.

“We might be onto a winner, Billy,” he said, and turned to Lee. “Why don’t you get changed for this one?”

Lee frowned a little, but the corners of his mouth twisted just slightly upwards. He picked up the bag that he’d brought with him, containing the changes of clothes he’d chosen, as well as one or two things he’d been asked to bring. He walked towards an open door that led to a store room. Both Pete and Billy knew that Lee liked to show an expression of disapproval while at the same time feeling amused. His tell was the way his mouth curved ever so slightly, not into a smile, but just enough to give away his real feelings.

The workshop’s office was locked and so Lee had to change in a store room where Matty, the owner, kept all kinds of things – from obsolete engine parts that might come in handy someday, if someone happened to bring in the exact model of car or bike that they had originally belonged to – to old bits of furniture, some of which had seen better days, while others looked as though, with a little care and attention, could fit in well in a nice home.

From his bag, Lee took out a pair of leather biker pants and a grey vest. While he pulled them on his eyes scanned the room and fell on a round table and some chairs in a corner of the store room. He quickly buckled the pants, pulled on his boots and threw the vest over his head and neck, and walked deeper into the room to investigate while tucking the vest into the pants. He liked what he saw there and made a mental note before returning to the workshop.

“Alright, lads,” Lee clapped his hands together. “Let’s do this!” He made no hesitation in swinging his leg over the motorbike and settled into position with one hand on the bars, and the other resting on his hip.

“That looks great, Lee,” Billy noted. Lee gave him a wink of appreciation.

“Okay,” Pete said. “I’ll count you down this time. Three, two, smile on ‘one’, and click, okay?”

“You got it, Boss,” Lee winked at Pete.

“Right then. Three… Two… One…”

CLICK!

A few seconds later, Pete spoke.

“That’s close. Less ‘mean-and-moody’, more ‘touch my bike and die, kid!’”

“I got an idea,” Lee said as he dismounted the bike. “Follow me.”
