Description
This post is dedicated to a "Scenario" that what if each Smash Bros. Games added two additional Nintendo Fighters to their existing roster selection. The additions to each game are based around likelihood, realistic, unique or makes sense to be added to that iteration of Smash Bros; N64, Melee, Brawl, 3DS/Wii U and Ultimate.
If you could add two additional Nintendo characters to each version of Smash Bros, who would you add and why?
The two characters I would add to Super Smash Bros. would have to be Mike Jones from StarTropics and Lip from Panel De Pon for reason of both being Region exclusive games or titles; StarTropics was one of the few Nintendo owned NES Series that never saw a release in Japan and Panel De Pon (Japan) got released as Tetris Attack outside of Japan, so why would Nintendo add characters to their debut crossover game if only certain places would know of these characters? The answer is simple and it lies within the characters that were considered or planned for the original Smash Bros with Marth from Fire Emblem. Marth (+ Roy) would later debut as originally Japan exclusive fighters in Super Smash Bros. Melee worldwide, so it's not to far "farfetch'd" to believe that other region exclusive characters could've been added if another Series with the same reasons was considered during the planning stages and would later be implemented into a future installment.
The two characters I would add to Super Smash Bros. Melee are Ayumi Tachibana from Famicom Detective Club and Saki Amamiya from Sin & Punishment, these inclusions would apply the same way Marth and Roy from Fire Emblem being added, leading the Fire Emblem Series being localized worldwide from 2003 onward. Perhaps adding Ayumi and Saki would've allowed the Detective Club and Sin & Punishment Series to have the same appeal as Fire Emblem and make both these Series Nintendo staples just like Fire Emblem. This would of also increased the newly represented franchises to five, since the only new Series we got were Ice Climber, Fire Emblem and Game & Watch.
The two characters I would add to Super Smash Bros. Brawl are Krystal from Star Fox Assault and Toon Zelda/Tetra from Legend Of Zelda The Wind Waker, these inclusions are added to increase the character count in the Legend Of Zelda and Star Fox Series. Krystal debuted in Star Fox Adventures for the Nintendo Game Cube and has replaced Peppy as the 4th Pilot in the Star Fox Team as their Telepath, she plays major roles in Star Fox Assault and Command. Lets be honest Smash has not been very nice to Legend Of Zelda in terms of playable fighters and it's been this way since Brawl and hasn't gotten a newcomer for 3DS/Wii U or Ultimate which is disrespectful to such a beloved franchise; Melee added Sheik, Zelda, Young Link and Ganondorf which is a major increase for a single game, Brawl cut Young Link and added Toon Link which is still ok since it's still 5 fighters, 3DS/Wii U had no new representation and still leaving Young Link absent and finally Ultimate did update Link to match his BoTW design and they did bring back Young Link with some minor moveset updates, but yet again they didn't added any newcomers yet again. So I feel that both Legend Of Zelda and Star Fox both have been getting shafted since 3DS/Wii U with no additional newcomers whatsoever for the fans that love these Nintendo Series, so hopefully if or when they announce the next game they'll fix their mistake and give these Series some deserved respect.
The two characters I would add to Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U are Takamaru from The Mysterious Murasame Castle and Elma from Xenoblade Chronicles X, these inclusions are characters that missed probably their only chances at becoming Playable in Smash. Takamaru become relevant again during the 3DS/Wii U era with The Mysterious Murasame Castle being ported to both the 3DS and Wii U, Takamaru is a playable character in Samurai Warriors 3 published by Nintendo and Koei Tecmo and has a mini-game in Wii U's Nintendo Land throwing Shuriken's. Shulk became Xenoblade Chronicles first playable character for 3DS/Wii U's Base Game, but it was disappointing that Xenoblade Chronicles X got no representation during the DLC portion of the game, despite that Nintendo already represented by Splatoon and Fire Emblem Fates with trophies and fighters. This was probably the only that Elma from Xenoblade Chronicles X could've became playable, since I don't see Nintendo porting or remastering the game anytime soon (This was being written before the announcement of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, which adds more disappointment to this, hopefully X will get ported or remastered after 3's development).
The two characters I would add to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are Chorus Men from Rhythm Heaven and Mach Rider from well Mach Rider, these inclusions are to add two things that were missing from the Base Game; Chorus Men would represent the Rhythm game genre and Mach Rider would add another Racing game genre as well as add the missing Retro rep they've been adding since Melee, this is a character to join alongside Captain Falcon from F-Zero another Racing game made by Nintendo. Both Chorus Men and Mach Rider were both considered to be playable characters for 3DS/Wii U and Melee respectively. While Ultimate's Base Game appealed to long awaited requests such as Ridley and K. Rool, it was missing the surprise vibe of having unexpected characters join the battle; Pit from Kid Icarus, Snake from Metal Gear Solid, Villager from Animal Crossing and even Piranha Plant being the wackiest addition yet.
