Even though most never played Smash 4 due to it being an exclusive to the questionable Wii U Console made released by Nintendo, but Smash 4 had introduced recognizable, iconic and dream picked 3rd Party Fighters; Megaman, PAC-MAN, Ryu and Cloud Strife all debuting in the same game. Smash 4 is also the only iteration of Smash Bros to appear on the Home ConsoleWii U and Portable being the 3DS. The 3DS version sold close to 10 Million copies, while the Wii U version sold just slightly over 5 Million copies. The Wii U version most likely sold poorly due to how Nintendo wasn’t advertising or promoting their games properly and the lack of 3rd Party titles can also cause a Console to not be as successful. Mewtwo, Lucas and Roy all return from Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl respectively as paid DLC characters that missed out on being in the Base Game and the 4 other DLC characters; Ryu, Cloud Strife, Corrin (I’ll say more on Corrin) and Bayonetta. While people enjoyed the inclusions of Ryu and Cloud Strife, the other two Corrin and Bayonetta both had more questions and doubts about why they were included. Corrin is the Fire Emblem character that started the entire “too many Fire Emblem characters” Memes and Groups dedicated to not like Fire Emblem in Smash Bros and while I don’t hate Fire Emblem, I do agree that Nintendo made some poor and bad decisions adding Corrin and even Sakurai himself acknowledged that adding Corrin would be a bad idea since they added two new Fire Emblem characters; Robin and Lucina and brought back Roy as DLC already, but unfortunately the Majority ruled over Sakurai and Corrin started development. Personally if they had to go with a character from a recent Nintendo exclusive it probably would’ve been wiser to add either Elma from Xenoblade Chronicles X or the Inklings from Splatoon since they would’ve been received more positively and get less backlash than what Corrin got. Now we’re moving onto Bayonetta and before I begin I’d like to clarify something that people may have misunderstood about her being the ”Ballot Winner”. It was stated during the Final Smash Presentation for Smash 4 that Bayonetta was the overall “#1 Choice Worldwide”, but people seem to forget that Sakurai also stated that it was “Among realizable and negotiable” at the time. So using this Bayonetta was realistically one of the best options at the time and probably did receive a pretty decent amount of votes to classified the #1 choice in Europe and Top 5 in the US with the “Among realizable and negotiable” at the time of this statement. So this just means that even if Bayonetta wasn’t among the top 10 or 20 so characters, she was the best possible choice at the time of the DLC duration, do I think Bayonetta should’ve been the final DLC for Smash 4? Well I was more surprised than anything else about the inclusion and happy that we finally got another fighter included that is from Sega to join Sonic. We would later learn about over a month ago during the Final Mr. Sakurai Presents for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate that Sora from Kingdom Hearts was the true “Fighter Ballot Winner” and that Sora’s inclusion has been in talks ever since the Smash 4 DLC concluded, which is about 6 years total.
