I agree with ya on the fact a cartoon should be kept a cartoon. But I have to admit some styles are not that scary O.O I think my eye twitched when I pictured a cutie-chibi-zim.....it just twitched again whille I typed that O.o

Animes are japanese cartoons. They are mostly based on japanese comics (mangas)
For exmple Naruto, Inu Yasha etcetc.

Lots of fake-japanese, anime fan think that just because a cartoon character has big eyes they are anime, and draw them in "anime-style" that they learned from the internet, and call themselfs "anime-artists". And it's freaking me out.
There ARE anime-artists, but drawing anime or manga dosen't make you one of them.....

I don't know how it is in America, but in Europe cartoons are called cartoons, rajzfilm etcetc AND japanese cartoons called anime, japanese comics called manga etcetc
I'm sure it's because japanese cartoons has a huge, spcial culture, /maybe because of their unic stlye and characteristic/ and not only in japane (well, of course anime is not only Naruto or Inu-Yasha...they are just the most common examples)
But you can't use the word "anime" for a europian or an american cartoon because they are more than different from the unic word of the japanese cartoon culture (at least among cartoonists around here, but just look around DA, and you will see the difference)

You can call European cartoons it it just is apparently improper to you. Walt Disney invented anime, or did u not read the link i showed you? In America they are called anime, cartoons, etc. Also i have been on dA for a year(not on this acc.) and i have never seen someone say that only japanese cartoons are anime, there is no difference besides the styles.

In a way, I agree with you. I don't mind seeing Zim chibified if it lookeds good but what I don't like is when people make him 10 feet tall. Hes suppose to be short, not a tallest. It sucks that more people don't draw Jhonen style.

artistic freedom is the thing in all of us that wants to draw the things we enjoy.
but the line is drawn at expressing this freedom, and destroying someone else's art.
i like the Mona Lisa, and i love invader zim, but to take the Mona Lisa and change her into a "Vasquez" art form, then, have the gall to frame it and put in the louvre museum is a gross abuse of this artistic freedom.
how do you think mr. Vasquez feels when he sees people abusing one of his ideas and concepts? i believe he would want to send mr. nny out to kill them all in the most wonderful of ways.
i'm just saying that watch how you use your freedom. you might be stepping on someone elses.
all in all, love this! one of my favorite shows on TV. and you have done a great job expressing yours (and probably zim and gir's) frustration.
