In the former USSR countries it is believed that people born on Mondays are unlucky. I remember a funny song from an old Russian movie. The song was about an island of very unlucky cave-men, who were probably all born on Mondays, and the only way out was to cancel Mondays, but, unfortunately, they didn't have a calendar on the island T_T

These are great! However, I have never heard of Monday being the first day of the week. Especially based on the following facts.
The bible says that Jesus rose on the first day of the week (Sunday)
The bible says remember sabbath, the 7th day of rest, because it is holy (Saturday to the Jews)
Every calendar starts the week with Sunday
Wednesday is "Hump" day because it marks the middle of the week. If Monday were the 1rst, then Thursday would be hump day.
Anyway... great work!

thank you - and there is some debate as to what the actual official start to the week is. I chose to go with Monday because of where I am, I know it might not be 100% international friendly but in doing my research I felt that it would be acceptable. I appreciate your input though

A bunch of people I know think its about a school shooting, which it wasn't. Technically.
The shooter was 16, and shot at the elementary school across the street from her, which I would assume is why so many people call it a school shooting, just generalized like that.
And whenever I read her reason for doing it... I get chills... All cause she didn't like Monday's, and wanted to liven up the day :/

You should read Garth Nix's "Keys To The Kingdom" series. Mister Monday, Grim Tuesday, Drowned Wednesday, Sir Thursday, Lady Friday, Superior Saturday, Lord Sunday.
This just reminded me of those books.

Montag is the german word for monday.
I think that the English origin from germanic tribes from the north (today netherlands-denmark) shows quite well in the language too.

I did - I pulled facts from Wikipedia (sure some may say its not reliable) but for this purpose it worked. I also did some digging around the internets, some facts may not be 100% accurate but I did my best to weed out the rubbish.
