Description
The plan with this image was to draw her face on a large scale, and render it as realisticaly as possible while retaining the cartoon look.

Great work! The freckles are a nice touch but they seem to be patterned. Kinda of drew me out of my fantasyland. You have outstanding work that I hope to aspire to. This is not a cut on you, just constructive feedback.

Perhaps sometime, you could do An Omniverse Gwen pic. I'm starting to get used to her new attireΒ , but I still despise her redesigned Anodite form.Β

After looking at the blow-up the detail is just amazing!
chrome gleam on the hairclip
two-tone eye highlights
rib waves in the neckline
texture weave in the fabric
- and the freckles - whew!!

Glad someone looked at the full-view! This pic is designed to be closely scrutinised.
Β I tried rendering Elastigirl- and found she went from a cute 2d drawing to a creepy weird-looking rendered image.. Β was quite a cool drawing though -have to try recolouring it someday.
Β That's why I was careful to keep the facial shading at a point where it gives the face form, but doesn't make her grotesque.
I remember on the behind the scenes of "Incredibles", the guy sculpting Violet was having a lot of trouble making her look pretty..

Takes an artist's eye (6_6)Β I know what you mean when you render a 3-D.
Look at Elastigirl on screen - cute! Elastigirl as a Happy Meal toy - butt ugly!

A great synergy between stylized and realistic, fantastic job! The attention to the cloth fibers and strands of hair are particularly impressive.

Thanks! I rushed the hair a bit, but I'm happy with the fabric - I used the "Texturiser" tool, and the "Artistic-Smudge" filter to give it that cloth-look.

DrewGardner In reply to Twinsnake-Coatl [2013-10-29 02:40:46 +0000 UTC]
Well, I wasn't going for full-realistic.. That would cross the line and look too creepy, I think.
Β There's other bits like her hair, that I left looking somewhat cartoony..

YoOcik [2013-10-25 06:48:02 +0000 UTC]
Hmm, she is a bit too glossy for my tastes but does indeed look more realistic. Maybe its the white spots in her eyes that are giving me that glossy impression. Lips are great tho.
