NEW VERSION AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD [link]I know the "i"prefix is WAY overused, but I couldnt help to think how much i dislike my PC now. Although, when you go above and beyond previous performance, it isn't just replacing... But here it is, my second reflective deviation.

So what exactly is better about mac? You say "Although, when you go above and beyond previous performance, it isn't just replacing..." What PC did you have? Yes, if you pay more for a mac, than it will have more performance than the PC, but macs DO NOT have more performance than PCs, and they are not better.
Is a 1000 dollar PC equal to a 1000 dollar mac, in terms of performance? No. Think about the macbook pro. The cheapest is 1200 bucks. It has an i5 2.8ghz dual core only, only 4gb ram, only 500gb 5400rpm hdd, AND only a 13 inch screen. I know for a fact that a year ago, you could buy an 18 inch 8gb ram, i7 with a 1tb 7200rpm hdd.
So PC has better bang for buck.
The mac OS is easier for people who don't know much about computers, I'll give them that, but for actually doing stuff...
Few games are released for mac, so if you are a gamer, PC is better. If you are using any 3d program like 3ds max or blender, PC is better because you have more RAM, better processor, and faster HDD. Also if you are doing any video/picture edititing/animating, PC is better because more RAM, better processor, and faster HDD. If you are just browsing the internet, they are equal.
About the OS, on a mac, you need to open a whole program just to format a drive. On a PC you right click and click format. Mac is designed to do simple tasks, or for people who like shiny logos. You can pay more for a fancier macbook pro, but for that price, the PC would be better.

My Powermac is 10 years old and still performs beautifully. I've never had a PC be useful for more than 5 years, let alone functional at 10.

ha i've been on a mac before and it was confusing, maybe its just me but i hate the menu thingy. It seems really unorganized. I prefer PC...why do they say a Personal Computer (PC) is different from a Mac? I thought a Mac WAS a personal computer...

and at the same time there are topics on the mac help forum where genius mac users say things like like
"my computer won't turn on"
and
"what does caps lock do"
windows is a better operating system, and with windows 7, there is a best of both worlds option which blends osx and vista
and if you haven't used vista for more than a few hours, please don't knock it. it's immature and distasteful. find a computer that uses it or borrow a friend's and form your own unbiased opinions. it really isn't that bad of an OS
also the common complaints about UAC are by the same people as the ones who can't turn a computer on on the mac forums: the retarded children of the computer world; don't pay any attention to them

More people these days are buying Mac because of the hype and have never used one before, nor do they actually NEED one for their basic computing. That's why we see more of the trivial "help me I'm a noob" threads on the net. Also, modern Windows has been around since what, 1992 with 3.1? Giving it lots of time to gain popularity and people to answer those questions already. OS X has only been around since 2001, and with Apple's market share in 2005 at ~6% there was even less information available. Different OSs exist so we can choose what suits us best

There are a few differing viewpoints about Mac from the PC community.
PC user L1 (Uses MS Windows... badly)
"Macs are pretty, but there's no software and it's so expensive." (Said as they dole out an inordinate amount of cash for crappy copies of Vista)
PC user L2 (Uses MS Windows... think they do it well)
"Mac is a computer for people who don't know how to use computers. Windows is the only real operating system people use." (Said as they crash Windows for the umpteenth time)
PC user L3 (Uses MS Windows... dabbles with Linux)
"Windows sucks, but is necessary. Linux is by far the most powerful, versatile operating system." (Said as they search through forums to find out why their printer driver won't load in Linux)
PC user L4 (Dual-boots MS Windows and Debian Linux)
"OS X is a fully-functional variant of BSD Unix... why did I spend all this time installing Debian?"
Mac user (Says nothing, Mac user and already functioning Mac computer have better things to do)

I use both and I enjoy both of them. I use Windows for gaming and mac for editing, simple.

What can you edit on a mac that you cant on a PC. If you use photoshop, its mac and PC. If you use after effects, its mac and pc. If you use any 3d program, like 3ds max or maya, its both. The only mac only program for editing is Final cut pro. That is essentially adobe production premium without photoshop.
Could you explain why you use mac for editing?

Mac user who switched to PC "why the hell did I pay so much?!" (that's what I said when I bought a PC desktop last summer)
My old mac was a mac mini for 500 bucks. It had a crappy processor and only 1gb ram. I got a new PC for 500 bucks with an i5 and 8gb ram.
