I wanted to try out this angle because I've found other pieces here on dA with this composition and found them interesting. Yes, she's supposed to be on the water rather than in it, which is why you can't see the rest of her body under the water line. It was an artist choice.Credits:

Thanks! I got the texture trick from the tutorial I read on how to paint a unicorn horn. You take one of the default leaf brushes on PS that's already set to scatter, scale it down to, like, ten, and use dodge and burn tools. It works really well!
