Description This is a photo of  one of my favorite subjects. This is  Willow a Red Tail Hawk that has flown around our property for the last 17 years or so usually when I don't have my camera. I' ve always wanted to get some really nice photos of her  but as I said either  I didn't have my camera ect. Well in the last week she has been hanging on the electric lines in my yard seeming not to move for days .Last Thursday willow was in my front bushes unable or unwilling to fly and sick. Lisa and myself with our children watched for hours keeping the crows away from her as they tried to attack her till an officer from fish and wildlife came. As I helped the officer pick her up and place her in a box I felt awe in her presence as well as sadness that i may not see my old friend again. She was taken to a rehab about 60 miles away. Lisa called the rehab the next day they said she appeared normal no damage to wings or body but that she would not eat the vet is now feeding her tube feed to try to save her. While we hope she will make a recovery it is a sobering thought that she might not or that she may not be able to find her way home to us and her mate. LisaAnn1968

A sad tale, highlighted though by the sheer kindness of yourself and your family. The bird cannot say "Thank You", but I can. I hope that her recovery is full, and one bright day you see her suddenly reappear on your property.

This is a very heartbreaking story. But I have to say that you are both so kind to care about this lovely animal and to be able to offer it a little hope. I am glad that you were both there for her. We need more people like you two in the world. I hope that you will have some happy news or us. Do update on her condition  please

This is such a beautiful bird. Reading the description made me sad and happy at the same time that she had you guys to make sure she was safe until you got her to the proper place, I hope and pray that she will be ok and find her way back home to you guys and be healthy and happy. Very beautiful description.

you  know something John I ad not realized that there was a story attached to this image and apologize for not reading it as DA was a crazy place for me this morning and I got backed up with many messages and all. But  I want to say that this story really brought tears to my eyes and I just want to tell you that I really have to thank God that there are wonderful people in this world like you and your wife that care about these beautiful creatures enough to be there for them in their worse moments in life when they need caring. I believe in the power of prayer and I will pray for this little beauty that she will survive this and God bless you and Lisa both for being such caring people. Thank you for sharing this. It was well worth reading.

Do not worry Johnny I will make sure to know she has a mate here in our area so when she gets better she can come home. What a privilege it was as a family to care for Willow until she was taken to rehab. Much Love to all!
