Description Welcome to the jungle.
Monte Verde Cloud Forest, Costa Rica.
Fun fact - in spite of its lush appearance, only the top few inches of soil are fertile. This leads to trees and plants with a very shallow root system, and because of that more trees falling, causing the forest to cycle through generations much more quickly than most. The increased speed means more competition which leads to the variety of species that these forests are known for.

Thank you for the "Fun Fact". What a lush and diverse place and you've taken a great photo of it. I especially like the vines layered over many of the upper branches.

Monte Verde was one of the coolest places and one of the highlights of the trip. Unfortunately it was also a malaria zone, and while I didn't get sick from it it does mean that I can't give blood for a full year as per local law. Kind of a bummer, but I would still call it worthwhile.

Lianas? Well I'm not sure, but I'll take your word for it. I've been getting a lot of feedback with names of species on my latest submissions, and it's totally welcome. I'm glad you liked that effect the lianas gave it.

I really like how all the different greens blend in together. You can feel the moisture and hear the jungle animals calling out. Very nicely done.
