Next: drock625.deviantart.com/art/WW…Note: I know what you're thinking, you're thinking "did you just put Arendelle that kingdom from the movie 'frozen' in this?"
Yes I did. Why because an anonymous deviant requested that I'd make up a history of the Kingdom of Arendelle from Frozen and base it in this world. Second, this is alternate history so it makes sense. Also for those of you in those Disney groups on DA who are wondering why this map is on a Disney group, yes this is the reason why.

Without Further ado, lets continue shall we. This is the Second World War, my alternate take on it.
The Gathering Storm:
Nazi Germany:
September, 1939. Hitler and the Nazis launch a devastating attack on neighboring Poland, to win a swift and absolute victory. Only 20 years earlier, their forefathers had also been on the march but back into their homeland as a defeated army. In November 1918 after four years of WW1 Germany's Emperor Keiser Wilhelm the second had been forced to capitulate. His armies were being ground down by a remorseless offensive by French, British, America and Columbian troops. But already there was a dangerous myth taking place: Germany wasn't defeated but betrayed by the weak politicians in the Government. But in any case, on November the 11th, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, World War 1 came to an end. The Following month President Woodrow Wilson of the United States ventured to Europe promising a new hope. He persuaded the world's leaders to sign up to a new "League of Nations."
At the treaty of Versailles they agreed that from now on, any disputes between countries would be settled not by fighting, but by debate within the league. The peoples of Europe was set free. Germany's ally the Austro-Hungarian Empire, was dismantled. Out of it new nations arose: Austria, Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. Germany itself was greatly reduced in Size. But this process contained a time bomb, not everyone celebrated the new nations like Czechoslovakia, and many of them had some German minorities. One day, the desire to reunite the German peoples would come to haunt Europe. Another sense of indignity was set upon the German people, they were forced to repay a copious amount of 6.6 million pounds in reparations for the war, something they could ill afford.
And when Woodrow Wilson returned to America, his new world order immediately fell apart. The then Columbian president Henry Forrester also faced problems with the new world order. The cabinets of both presidents were horrified by the casualties of World War 1 and pledge to keep out of any European conflicts. America, and Columbia withdrew into isolationism. Germany was also a different nation, it was still a relatively large nation, but its militaristic monarchy had gone, it had now become a democracy. But its government was soon struck by a series of hammer blows. Streets erupted into fights between the extreme right wing nationalist and communists trying to start a revolution. Then in 1923, the country was devastated by hyperinflation. Ordinary people's savings were wiped out.
This was fertile ground for a new breed of right wing rabble rousing politicians. A man named Adolf Hitler, was one of them. Hitler had written a book Mein Kampf, My struggle in which he demands that Germany re-arm and reclaim what it has lost. Meanwhile Italy had gained some post war territorial gain, but the Italian nationalists were angered that the promises made by Britain, France and Arendelle to secure Italian entrance into the war were not fulfilled with the peace settlement. Between 1922 and 1925, a fascist movement led by Benito Mussolini seized power in Italy with a totalitarian and class collaborationist agenda that abolishes a democracy, repressed socialist, left-wing and liberal forces, and pursued an aggressive expansionist foreign policy aimed at making Italy a world power, promising the creation of a "New Roman Empire."
Adolf Hitler had attempted an unsuccessful armed coup against the German government in 1923. He eventually became the Chancellor of Germany in 1933 after president Hindenburg died. He abolished democracy and established a radical and totalitarian regime and soon began a massive rearmament campaign. It was at this time that many political scientists began to predict that a second great war might take place. But at first there was little sign of what was to come. For the next three years, the German leader focused on rebuilding the German economy. He spent millions on public works, to soak up the unemployed. Under the Versailles treaty the German army was limited to 100,000 men, it was forbidden to have an air force, tanks or submarines. The army was trembled in size, then in 1935 he unveiled a brand new air force, the Luftwaffe, it had 2,500 planes far more than Britain, France, and Arendelle. Unemployment had plunged and the Nazis became increasingly popular.
Now, the Fuehrer had made his first expansionist move, in 1935 he had reoccupied the Saarland district at the French border, after it had voted to return from the League of Nations back to Germany. Then Hitler sent troops into the Rhineland, part of Germany which had been demilitarized at the Versailles. At first the Germans were only taking back what was rightfully theirs, neither Britain, France or Arendelle objected. When Berlin hosted the 1936 Olympics, the Nazi party was seen as firm but fair. A government which was restoring the nations pride, and which didn't threat anyone. Of course there were signs, the Nuremburg laws had forbade Jews to marry true Aryan Germans and deprive them of their citizenship. But the first threat to world peace didn't come from Hitler at all, but from somewhere else entirely.
Empire of Japan:
Even before the first world war, japan was already a military power, it had defeated Russia in the war in 1905 and had fought along side the allies in world war one, after the war it was an acknowledge war power, and had signed up to the league of nations. But politically it was a mess of contradictions, officially a democracy, the monarch tradition was still strong. Most Japanese viewed their emperor as a living god and regarded him as their true leader. Economically the country was facing problems as well, its population was exploding and it had now natural resources to accommodate its rapidly expanding economy. Their answer was Chinese Manchuria, a region of China that is rich of grain fields with plenty of coal and minerals, Japanese troops were already stationed there. But at this stage, Japan had to be cautious, for they did not what to rouse the other great powers in the pacific, the United States, and its twin nation the Columbian States.
Though America and Columbia most definitely had the naval power to take on Japan, they had been distracted. This was the Jazz age for not only America, but for Columbia as well. Music had been revolutionizing themselves in both nations and movies were being released quickly to entertain each other. The sister nations seemed distracted by the pursuit of pleasure. With distractions like these, Asia's problems seemed so far away. Then the crash came in 1929, and suddenly across the two richest nations in the world, millions lost their jobs. Whereas before they've been distracted by pleasure, now the twin nations were distracted by pain. It was time for Japan to make her move.
On September of 1931, Japan invaded Chinese Manchuria. A puppet state was created and named Manchukuo. The League of nations was presented with its first real crisis, Japan was universally condemned, but Japan's response was blunt, and then the Japanese just walked out, then suddenly the league of nations realized that there was nothing it could do about Manchuria. Japan turned their eyes to further conquest in china. These were easy pickings, china was in a state of chaos due to its civil war between the Nationalist and the Communists. In 1936 the Japanese signed a pact with Hitler to guard against attack from soviet Russia should it move against Japan. Then six years later, the Japanese captured the former Chinese imperial capital of Beijing after instigating the Marco Polo Bridge Incident, which then culminated in the Japanese campaign to invade all of China. The Soviets signed a non aggression pact with China and lend some materiel support which in effect, ended China's prior co-operation with Germany. By the end of 1937 the Japanese had overrun much of northern china and most of its coast.
And now the league of nations were facing further military threats close to home.
Kingdom of Italy:
Today it is easy to laugh at Benito Mussolini, the Italian dictator of Italy. All that posturing seems faintly ridiculous now, but they didn't seem that way in 1933. Back then Italy had seemed to be on the edge of anarchy, and like Germany the country was besieged with strikes and riots. So Mussolini organized the right wing nationalists, the Fascists. Benito Mussolini had assumed dictatorial power, and all power was soon in the hands of the Fascists.
Like Hitler, Mussolini first concentrated on repairing the Italian economy. Massive programs of public works provided employment and transformed Italy's infrastructure. Corruption was rooted out, and the mafia more or less eliminated. Mussolini also built up the Italian armed forces and had build an advance air force. Mussolini also unleashed a vast Italian navy in the Mediterranean, which outnumbered British and French ships combined. And when the great depression came, Italy seemed to weather it better than most, and Mussolini became a world wide inspiration. Politicians, at least like Hitler, saw the Fascist system as a role model, strong a purposeful, in contrast to the weakness of the democracies in Britain, France and Arendelle. But Mussolini wanted something else, he wanted to re-create the Roman empire, and he had already had his first target in mind, Abyssinia, Ethiopia today.
The Second Italo–Abyssinian War was a brief colonial war that began in October 1935 and ended in May 1936. The war began with the invasion of the Ethiopian Empire by the armed forces of the Kingdom of Italy, which was launched from Italian Somaliland and Eritrea. The war resulted in the military occupation of Ethiopia and its annexation into the newly created colony of Italian East Africa; in addition, it exposed the weakness of the League of Nations as a force to preserve peace. Both Italy and Ethiopia were member nations, but the League did nothing when the former clearly violated the League's own Article X. Germany was the only major European nation to support the invasion. Italy subsequently dropped its objections to Germany's goal of absorbing Austria. The Abyssinian emperor fled into exile.
From its headquarters in Switzerland, the league of nations wrung its hand, it did impose sanctions on the aggressors, but they had little effect. Mussolini's aggressions revealed two things, the League of Nations was impotent, and three of Europe's supposed Major powers, the democracies Britain, France and Arendelle no longer had the stomach for a fight.
Britain, France and Arendelle:
The major powers Britain, France and Arendelle had ben shattered by world war one, and their economies never really recovered. All three had been plagued with strikes and unemployment even before the great depression. All three also have to face the cost of controlling empires, now swollen from taking the former territories from the empires of Germany and the Ottoman. And above all, all three had been traumatized by the horrific casualties of World War 1. A Succession of British leaders like Ramsay Macdonald and above all Stanley Baldwin elected to keep Britain out of future conflicts.
Despite horrific casualties on the western front, Britain did have large and effective conscript army. And when the great depression struck any ideas of modernizing the army were abandoned, this meant that Britain will have entered the war economically and militarily weak.
French losses during world war one had ben even worse than the British. Ever mistrustful of the Germans a large conscript army was maintain but throughout the 1920s France's birthrate had started to decline, it was concluded that in the mid 1940s France will have a manpower shortage. It became clear that France could never compete with Germany on the size of its army alone. So, France adopted an entirely defensive strategy. The Maginot line was constructed to protect France from Germany. This meant that France was only capable of waging a defensive war, it could never invade Germany. And of course, France and Britain knew that their navies in the Mediterranean were outnumbered by the Italian navy.
Arendelle seemed to have weather the post world war one world better than its allies had. It was never invaded, nor did it suffer the industrial destruction or the mass massacre of civilian populations like France did. But there were also signs that Arendelle was shattered by the war. Spending so much for the war effort, its economy was facing decline, and the Great depression sped it up. The country was also facing wave of strikes and oppression, and street riots between the Communist and extremists parties. The Government was able to police both parties, but its employment issue was swelling during the 1930s, and maintaining its conscript army, was costly enough for Arendelle. Arendelle did have an air force, and maintained a sufficient navy, but its air force was outdated and out numbered by the ultra advanced German Luftwaffe.
So when Italy conquered Abyssinia, it made since for the three powers to do nothing. It just seemed too remote, too much someone else's problem. By now they all had to deal with all the traumas of the great depression. And above all, they are now facing a military threat far close to home: A resurgent, and rearming Germany. And by now, Germany's power, and that of Italy too was soon about to be tested, in supporting the rise of another dictator, in Spain.
Francoist Spain:
In 1930 Civil War erupted in Spain which was exceptionally vicious, setting family against family, communist against fascists, believers against atheists. The Nationalists leader Francisco Franco was shocked when he had learned that in 1928, the new Spanish republic had removed the Spanish monarchy. the King was forced into exile, and a republic was declared. In 1930, a popular front had raised to take on the forces of the right in a general election, the popular front won narrowly. Within the Spanish army, senior officers began to consider the possibility of a coup, to overthrow the republic government. And in mid 1931, General Francisco Franco was now commanding the newly founded Nationalist movement to fight communists, and one day overthrow the republic.
At first, the republic seemed to have the upper hand, Franco's army had to cross the Gibraltar in order to enter mainland Spain, and the pro-franco movements in Barcelona and Madrid were crushed. It meant the Republic had control of most of the eastern territories. But when more pro-Franco movements started taking place, it became increasingly clear that the republic didn't have the manpower to police its chaotic cities. Then in 1934, Franco and most of his army flew into Spain and started taking city after city, until they reached the capital. And when Italy started supporting Franco's nationalist with aircraft and manpower, the favor was quickly turning into Franco's favor.
In vain did the second Spanish republic appeal to Britain, France and Arendelle for help. But London, Paris, and Arendelle City were scared of setting off another European war, they declared a non-intervention policy. Cynically both Germany, and Italy signed up to this, but when it became increasingly clear that both were in fact assisting Spain, Joseph Stalin, the Soviet Leader, announced that he would help the republic. Stalin's worry was Fascism in Germany, Hitler had made it clear that Communism was Nazi Germany's ultimate enemy. What the republic received from Stalin was something, with 700 military advisors, and tanks and weapons, but in comparison to the support Franco had received, it was no match. By 1934 Franco's nationalist had overthrown the republic, and was receiving major economic support from Italy, and later Germany.
When both Fascist regimes of Italy and Germany were supporting the Francoist government, Franco was able to quickly restore the Spanish economy, and was able to rebuild its cities after three years of devastating civil war. By 1936, with major support from Germany and Italy, the economy had all but recovered, but Franco was also concentrating on a huge rearmament program, rebuilding the army, navy, and the air force, and with the help of his German and Italian allies, he had managed to modernize them. It meant that Spain would enter the war militarily and economically strong.
Hitler's Expansion:
By now, after the Spanish civil war, and the Italian invasion of Abyssinia, Hitler and Mussolini were confirmed in their belief that the democracies of Britain France and Arendelle were impotent to confront any real pressure. While Stalin despaired their willingness to confront fascism. Hitler in particular saw his way open to begin his aggressive policies outlined in Mein Kampf. Even before the Spanish civil war ended, his armies were on the march.
Germany and Italy were becoming more aggressive, Hitler told his army to prepare for a massive expansionist program. Hitler had ordered his army to be increased to over 300,000 men, and conscription was now re-introduced. Britain, France and Arendelle protested feebly this flagrant breach of the Versailles treaty, soon the reluctantly and slowly began to re-arm. Until this point Hitler had been modest, he had only taken back what was rightfully his. But now he had a grander target in mind, his home nation Austria.
In 1934 Austrian Nazis had tried in vain to overthrow the republic and unify the country with Germany. The Austrians after all spoke German, even though they were never part of a German state. In March of 1938 Germany annexed Austria, again provoking little to no response from the European powers. Encouraged, Hitler began making territorial claims of the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia, with a predominantly ethnic German population. These Sudeten Germans had been part of the Austro-Hungarian empire but had been cut off when Czechoslovakia was created in 1919. Hitler encouraged the Germans to break off from Czechoslovakia and join the Reich, and Hitler threatened to Czechoslovak government if it refused.
Soon Britain, France and Arendelle the counsel of British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain and conceded this territory to Germany in the Munich Agreement, which was made against the wishes of the Czechoslovak government, in exchange for a formal declaration by Hitler, that he had no more territorial ambitions. Chamberlain flew back to Britain waving a piece of paper, which he claims "guarantees peace in our time." Then on October the 1st German troops occupied the Sudetenland. Hitler then began sizing up for his next target, Poland.
Although Germany's stated demands had been satisfied by the Munich Agreement, Hitler was outraged that British interference had prevented him from Seizing all of Czechoslovakia. In January of 1939, Hitler had secretly build up its navy to challenge the supremacy of the British Royal navy. Then in March of that same year, Germany had conquered the remainder of Czechoslovakia, and subsequently split it into Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, and a pro-German client state, The Slovak Republic.
After this, Hitler then focused on the free city of Danzig, to connect the German province of West Prussia with the rest of Germany. Britain, France and Arendelle guaranteed their support for Polish independence and when Italy conquered Albania, the same was guaranteed for Romania and Greece. But by now Hitler didn't care whether the democracies declared war or not, he was sure they would be weak and indecisive opponents. In response to the Franco-British-Arendelle agreement, Germany and Italy formalized their own alliance called the "Pact of Steel."
In the Soviet Union, Stalin had become ever more concern of Germany's aggression, in April Stalin proposed an alliance with Britain France and Arendelle, but negotiations made little progress. Stalin despaired, and decided that there was another solution to the German threat. In the August of 1939, Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, whom everyone believed were sworn enemies announced a non-aggression pact. The agreement secretly specified that Poland would be broken up between the two countries, and Stalin would have a free hand to take over the Baltic States. Now free from any Russian threat, Hitler ordered his armed forces to prepare for an invasion. The German fuhrer has made the decision which in effect, would plunge the world into war.
America and Columbia:
Despite what may happen overseas, President Roosevelt had promised his country that they shall remain neutral should war break out in Europe, however he knew somehow that both his country and the United States of Columbia would be dragged into yet another war. He ordered a nation wide military re-armament. Both the USA and the USC, despite the horrific effects of the Great Depression, were looking to modernize their militaries. The sister nations were looking at jet fighters, jet bombers, rockets, guided missiles, ballistic missiles, helicopters, nuclear weapons, etc. This research in technology during the 1930s, and later exploitation of this technology would put both nations military over a decade and a half ahead of all other nations.
Meanwhile in the Southern continent, the Untied States of Columbia was swearing in a new president; Christina Holloway. Before going into politics, Christina Holloway had been an actress and model for silent, and later sound films. She was heavily noted for her voluptuously curvy figure, beautiful persona, and her interest in politics. She strived to be the first female president of not only her nation, but of any nation in the world. During the 1938-1939 presidential campaign, she at first, faced doubts for her gender, however she was able to win hearts over to support her candidacy and made her the best candidate in the country. She received huge support from President Franklin Roosevelt who also liked the idea of a female president. When she was sworn in on February of 1939, she made history as the first female president of any country.
Holloway and Roosevelt knew that one day if there is a war in Europe they would be dragged into the war, and so both countries underwent re-armament programs despite the Great Depression.

Uh..... Okay?
No my friend I don't think I'll do something like that. The whole "Kingdom of Arendelle" thing was a one time thing. Maybe I'll do it again but I don't know. I would definitely, most positively never do anything that silly. So... Sorry to let you down man.
