If anyone is familiar with Gallop Racer 2006, I've been playing it nonstop for a good solid 2 weeks. Going on 3. Pushing my hands ever further towards crippling arthtritis. This is actually how I appear at the moment, skanky and shiftless. I know what you're thinking, I don't wear socks. Well, I don't wear pants, either, when I'm playing GR. But I thought DA might benefit from the lie.
My cats are an interesting audience, especially Ptolemy. There's a little meter you have to watch while you're running your horse: blue is good, red is bad. But it has this tiny little galloping horse graphic in its center, and Ptolemy is fascinated by it. I had to stop playing stretched out on the couch because he would crouch directly in front of it and block my view. Sometimes he'd smack the screen. Classic cat stuff.
Ptolemy was also convinced that the horses walking off the screen were really behind the TV. He would run behind it like "Aha!", then looked peeved, wagging his tail with his ears pinned. He'd look at me like I was hiding them. I couldn't laugh too loud, cause then he'd stalk off. But the thought of him actually catching tiny electronic racehorses made me grin.
The bottom comic is something I wish could actually happen. I can win by 15 lengths in any race that isn't imminently crucial to winning a title. But as soon as I enter the European King Title Race, second cousin to Man o' War suddenly appears for a casual jaunt. Your horse can't actually trip or break a leg, despite the game threatening you with "unhealthy offspring" if you inbreed too much. Which is good, considering if someone blocks me on the straightaway I use my horse like a battering ram.
GR 2006 features a "Retry" option, which allows you to run the race again for 1000pts. I've retired horses for 40,000 pts, so it's kind of ridiculous. All I could think of what this time warp booth you'd walk your horse through. Or paying somebody to be like, "Okay, everyone! You, with the first place trophy! Put it back! She paid; we're running this thing again!" And the computer doesn't record retries, so it's like "The fabulous Artemis's Bow is 39 for 39!", when in actuallity, I'd be like 39 for 147 or something, cause that's how many races it took. Horses with spotless records make the best breeders, what can I say?
My champion mare is called Artemis's Bow, and she begot all of the horses that I've used to race in the Dream Cup series (mucho hard level racing). They win it as a family. Awwww.

This'll go in scraps eventually. My mom just found me a couple of Rottweiler litters to look at when I go home, so I was pleased and happeh. I shall continue to rock and play Gallop Crack until they come on Saturday, unplug the Playstation, take the controller from my nerveless, sweaty grip, and haul me home.
