Exactly what it says on the tin.
This is actually a request from Arosenheim : How about an image of the Doctor using his sonic screwdriver on the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader, and depicting that his lightsaber won't light up. (Perhaps like an motion similar to you and I tapping a flashlight with the palm of our hands when it won't light.)

Vader: What? Why won't this work? (Uses the force to take the sonic screwdriver)
Doctor: That's mine, give it back.
Vader: No, it's mine now (points it at the Doctor uses it, nothing happens) What the hell? What does thing do anyways?
Doctor: That, my sonic screwdriver; it opens locks, doors, windows, acts as a medical scanner and diagnostic tool, confuses the antibodies of a living planet , detects and stops telepathic signals, scans a life form for information-
Vader: Do any of this things functions have anything to do with sound?!
Doctor: Um, no.
Vader: (picks the Doctor up the throat) Then why do you call it that, and why can't I kill you with it?!

And Time Lords have a respiratory bypass system. The Doctor might lose one regeneration. However since Vader's got no knowledge of his species he'd end up getting caught in the regeneration blast, which as we know can be weaponized. River Song showed us that handily.Β

...You know an explanation like, "He would have just Sonic'd his robot parts and ran," would have sufficed.Plus I think being burned to a crisp from the waist up kind of prevents Vader to be "intrigued" if you know what I mean.

Possibly! EXCEPT FOR ONE THING! Gallifreyans aren't built like humans, so unless Vader had any intricate knowledge of his anatomy, force choke wouldn't entirely do much, because the Doctor can survive without breathing much longer than we can, Vader's dead systems would have him dropped long before the force could take him out.
Which is fascinating if you think about it.

The Doctor's got some very alien physiology and powers connected to what he is. He's mildly telepathic, as a cosmic sense, is a master swordsman and weapon master (with over 800 years of training and experience), is rather mad, has physic and psionic powers, has a level of precognition, speaks every language ever (including cat and baby), can survive one of his hearts being shut down....Β
