Description
Here's the third in my trilogy of pictures combining iconic characters from the Star Wars and Star Trek universes to mark the announcement that J.J. Abrams will direct the next Star Wars movie. And they don't get much more iconic than Darth Vader and Mr Spock!J.J. Abrams is living out every fanboy's dream right now - so I was wondering whether he's thinking to himself... "I really like Star Trek, and I really like Star Wars too. But which one is better? There's only one way to find out... FIGHT!"

This is an original depiction of copyright characters I didn’t create and don’t own. This is fan art – created solely to show my artistic ability – it isn’t for sale and isn’t available for reproduction. I drew this in Photoshop using a Wacom pad – this is a low-res version of the original.
***Updated with an alternative version that leaves out the text from the originally posted version which read "JJ Loves Me Most!". Also removed some filters that made the original image look over-saturated. If anyone notices the difference - let me know which version you prefer!***

(But seriously, while I'm a diehard fan of both Star Wars AND Star Trek, the fact remains that I am such a diehard Whovian that I will go down with the franchise.)

Gah! I love it! My boyfriend is a Trekkie and I am a total Star Wars Geek, and after he introduced me to Star Trek, I'd have to say Spock is totally my favorite character from the series!
In a fight though... I'd have to go with Vader, hands down.
He's known as the greatest Jedi Killer of all time for a reason y'know.
(Not to mention he's 7ft. tall, has super-cyborg strength,is heavily armored (no Vulcan neck pinch for you!), has mastered lightsaber combat, and can kill people with a thought.)
Did I mention that he's the Chosen One as well?

haha - very well reasoned description of how Vader would win a fight between these - and I certainly don't disagree. But I think that if there ever were a story that brought these two together - Spock would be smart enough to make sure it never came down to a physical confrontation.

I love it! I've always been a fan of Trek, while I never had the good chance to really get into Star Wars (like it all the same as well). I also like it that you make Spock older here, as in the Leonard Nimoy Spock. There are many things I like better about Star Trek before the reboot, and the old actors are definitely a part of that

Thanks very much. Leonard Nimoy will always be Spock to me (somewhere in between his look from the original series and the early movies). I think he made the most effective alien character with the minimal amount of make up and prosthetics!

Leonard Nimoy is the best Spock and will always be indeed. I like his early look and early 80s look as well. Such a classic character

Spock wins, logically. However, his face seems rather stretched in this picture. The jaw seems too long, and the forehead too short.

Maybe - I drew this quickly and without using any photo reference - so it could be out of 'realistic' proportion. I always thought Leonard Nimoy had a kind of long face - part of what made him look so believably 'alien' to me - so this was my interpretation of that look.

Oh this is awesome! my two favorite characters from the two franchises. The force verses the Vulcan mind meld. It's like we really want to see something like this happen in an actual movie. it would be so awesome!

As much as this would be cool to see - I think it's probably better that it never happens. After all - can you imagine if one of them lost! There'd be all-out war between Trek and Wars fans - although I'd have to be neutral as I like both!

Oh I love both of them, just about equally. Spock, Data, 7of9 where my favorites from Star Trek. Darth Vader, Yoda, are mine from Star Wars. Well when it comes to the force, I know Darth is way more powerful, and I don't think that shoulder knock out thing that Spock does will work and Darth ether, mostly the armor, but who knows if the force can prevent that or not. However if it came to the skill with lightsabers or any other sword like instrument, I am not sure who would have the upper hand. I know that one episode when Spock was in heat per say, he almost killed Kirk. So we know Spock can wield at least those heavy staff things. So no doubt he could weld a lightsaber.
But like Yoda and a Sith Lord, I am sure there are ways to make it come out like a draw.

Yes indeed - as you say, Spock can fight when he needs to - and that episode showed it well. I'm pretty sure it was 'Amok Time' - a one of the best I'd say!

sadly I don't have it all memorized. I'm about 28, and was only able to see some epesods from reruns when I was a kid. The next Generation one I was able to see more of. but they are both great shows in there different ways.

Star Trek is clever and set in a massive universe. The only problem is, it so often just isn't... fun.
Star Wars is as simplistic as ideas get; no real story or depth to the universe... but with more fun than you can shake a double-bladed light sabre at!
Who wins? Mankind wins for having both of these franchises available!
