UPDATES...!
What I truly hate is when certain updates screw up older programs/games. A graphics card update for example. You install it because a new game requires it. Then you think: Let's play some older game and that game doesn't work no more. ARGHHH...GH!
That's the downside of having a PC. That's also why I got a console on the side
Updates are often needed to make things run better, but I often reject them unless they are really important or needed.
You would think that certain updates are viruses in disguise...

Java is one of those programs that truly irritate me

What does it do actually? ^__^" I'm not that tech savvy so I don't know too many things about computer programs.

Yea, they really are a bother. Newer version of some programs sucks and also their designs.
Wish their is nothing called an "Update"..

Droneguard In reply to UnSpirited [2011-07-03 19:05:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, sometimes it can make a program or game more stable. I had problems in the past with Fallout: New Vegas and as soon as they brought out a update it didn't crash anymore like it did

It's funny that I see this on the day my computer won't start up thanks to a conflict that an update is responsible for! Yay irony!

Some of them may be. Occasionally I'll be browsing this website in particular, and find that something wants to update suddenly, and then my virus scan will pull out something that came in on the same date. :/

Virus programmers are getting smarter with the new auto update systems.

These last months are screwing up things on my computer. Maybe it's time for a fresh install and a new OS

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Oktanas In reply to Droneguard [2011-07-03 13:19:57 +0000 UTC]

that helps but after that you will have ton's of updates

I’ll say. We told dad once that he shouldn’t have made certain updates to the computer because those specific updates were unnecessary and useless but he did it anyways and the computer has been screwed up ever since

I also love it when my computer finds it has multiple updates that only activate RIGHT AFTER YOU'VE RESTARTED FROM THE LAST ONE.

That face is amazing .

Fucking Steam, bro. I have to download 5 gigs of stuff I don't need OR I CAN'T EVEN PLAY IT (Supreme Commander 2; first one was better).

Oh, Windows updates? Oh, My, God, it takes for EVER. It will sit there with NO internet activity for the longest times.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Droneguard In reply to Ionosphere-Negate [2011-07-01 17:56:43 +0000 UTC]

I haven't been on Steam in ages, I'm afraid it will download 100 GB if I log on

Windows updates... I have some updates ready to be installed yet they don't want to be installed while being installed... get it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ionosphere-Negate In reply to Droneguard [2011-07-01 20:53:29 +0000 UTC]

Probably, but you can stop them all. If you login with your browser, you won't have that issue.

PPPFFFTTTT.

I don't really have a problem with most updates, but a while back my laptop itself decided that it was necessary I switched from Windows Live Messenger 2009 to WLM 2011 It took me several hours, lots of forum searching and an incredible fit of rage/frustration to get it back to 2009, and now I forever hate Windows Live Messenger

Also, updates make your computer slow >.<

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Droneguard In reply to NanzzyRulezz [2011-07-01 17:55:19 +0000 UTC]

It's often harder to return to a older version of something then visa versa. Sometimes I believe developers do it on purpose

NanzzyRulezz In reply to Droneguard [2011-07-01 20:12:21 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, probably XD All so they can spy on what you do even more, and target you with ads |D

Alienware isn't too good, yet they're considered great gaming PCs. I don't really get it.

OMG, I so love your for this stamp. My computer is so behind update-wise because I refuse to watch my computer get fricked up because of it.

And that last comment is something I have wondered myself.

Not always the best idea- I did the same and ended up needing an entirely new hard-drive because of it. Now I just get them out of the way as soon as I get the message about them.

And I only go the computer at the beginning of this year...

DPA-avatars In reply to xiaolin-kirby-fan [2011-07-01 16:17:57 +0000 UTC]

Oh ouch.

All lot of the updates notices I get are for programs the previous owner installed. I've not had this laptop long, I'm still getting rid of them.

But I do update the necessaries, I've always taken care of my computers
