They provide the protection she needs for herself and her daughter, Amala. While some of them are still racist and she doesn't appreciate Kalki treating her like a pet it's better then how she'd fare in Chel. With Lok gone her options of safety were severely limited. Lucky for her a Nid agent saw her skills and decided to give her a chance rather then condemn her for her race so she's working with them now.

Nope, they have no cannibalism taboo! In fact, IIRC, the purple tongues that can be spotted on some drow is a result of cannibalism. Thus there are slurs referring to poor people having purple tongues.Β
Of course high-class Vals who can afford otherwise don't do it because they're snobs.

Drow eat EVERYTHING.
As in if its made of meat they will eat it.
Bugs, rats, Tiktikkas, DRAGONS, WOLVES, goblins, AS IN HUMANS, other Drow and certainly elves if they get the chance.
Meat is meat and slaves will often cost less to buy then actual food... So if its cheaper to carve a slave then buy a sack of meat the same size why not take advantage?
