He gritted his teeth in pain as blood ran over his lips, his pistol knocked far away as the strange, sweater-wearing Infected leaped at him, raising his claws to tear into the man.

And just as those claws shone so deadly in the blazing fires, the creature was knocked away, crouching and snarling as the kid aimed his firearm, unafraid. A frown, which Nick knew was uncharacteristic of him just from seeing him for a few minutes, etched itself onto the younger man's face.

"Take one more goddamn step," Ellis snarled. "I dare ya."
