Description
*UPDATE* 07/11/11I've uploaded a higher resolution version at 2560x1440px.
It's now available as a print
*UPDATE* 24/05/11
I've added a depth of field blur to the image, using Nuke compositing software.
*UPDATE* 21/05/11
I added some more clouds in the sky hovering around the peak in the background and tweaked the aerial perspective, which gave the environment more depth.
---
I've been learning Vue for the past week or so and this is my first attempt at creating my own terrain.
I went for a photorealistic feel to the environment, using Vue to generate the mountains using procedural terrains and a multitude of variable sliders.
For texturing the snow and rocks I used a layered texture.
The environment took one day to complete.
This is a raw render of the scene with no postwork done.

very nice Alex great feel, the only thing I would suggest is some post work to blur the background a bit, therefore showing a bit more depth

Thanks for the feeback Tian.
I've used Nuke to add the depth of field blur you were after by using the Z-depth render pass and tweaking it .
