My current progress so far on my next artwork: My OC, Veronika Arkadyevna is sitting on a motorcycle and eating a sandwich, with a faraway look on her face. As you can see if you've been following my more recent artworks... I appear to be improving. Hopefully, I can continue the trend. I like the line art so far, and I REALLY AM LIKING the changes to her character design that I've made regarding her outfit. Veronika is one of my more difficult characters to draw when it comes to her hair. You really have to be very careful with her hair, because it's supposed to straddle the line just barely between a more well-kept, clean cut hairstyle, and more wild, wolfish locks. Especially when it comes to this more realistic style, I had to be even more careful to walk that fine balance.

I think maybe her hair actually is leaning just a weee smidge too far into the "wolfish lockes" territory... but that's fine. Honestly it actually is supposed to be just barely on the side of wild versus prim and proper.

Speaking of prim and proper, though, it IS IMPORTANT to convey that aspect of her personality. Veronika, you see, like Rose, is a member of the aristocracy in my fantasy world. Unlike Rose, however, who was born at a time when the Aristocracy was near the apex of its power and social prestige, Veronika was born during a time when being a member of the Aristocracy was actually quite the liability. As a result, her manner of dress, her behavior patterns, and even her emotional stability all reflects the considerably more troubled childhood she had vs the environment in which Rose Nandai came of age.

Because of this, I feel like it actually is quite interesting to see Veronika and Rose interact with each other. Albeit, if I want to prove that sentiment, I should probably actually start working on some artworks where Rose and Veronika actually, you know... interact.
