So. This is but one of four secret santa gifts that I will be uploading in short order, as part of my participation in the Secret-Santa-Network , which is headed up by . The image that you see here is for InvaderNexis . Interestingly enough, InvaderNexis is my original assignment from the pairings generation algorithm that I used to give everyone their assignments. There was a bit of a glitch in the code, however, and as a result I ended up having to take on three more additional assignments, all within the span of a single month.

In all honesty, however, the gifts still really shouldn't have taken as long as they did. It was my own damned ambition and "never satisfied" approach to things that made me take the route I did. That is to say, I ended deciding to go with 4 full page illustrations, each one drawn and inked on 11"x17" cardstock, and colored in the GIMP.

I believe that I have mentioned in a few of my journals about a new technique that I had discovered, which would greatly decrease my time for full color illustrations. But I didn't take into account a flaw in how the technique is applied, and as a result made the mistake of committing myself to doing each of these 4 artworks in full color.

Boy, that was a nightmare. I mean, I'm already color challenged when it comes to digital artwork. A lot of it has to do with the fact that I really can't look at the screen for more than a few hours at a time. (The eyestrain gets to be pretty bad after that point). Still, though the coloring was fairly torturous, I still have to admit that this whole endeavor would have been impossible without that technique I discovered.

Thus, while things were long, slow, drawn out, and torturous with the technique, they were still at the very least possible. That's saying something, so I'm grateful for it.

But enough about my own technical foibles. Let's discuss this gift!

InvaderNexis! I looked at your wishlist, wherein you stated that you wanted a drawing of any of the original characters in a certain folder. I looked, and immediately fell in love with your OC, Judy Ganz. She has an awesomely dark, cyberpunk feel to her bio, and I absolutely adore girls of action.

As I was mulling over how to proceed, an image of Judy looking over the edge of skyscraper, perhaps stalking some fresh prey, popped into my mind. It was a really cool visual, and so I just ran with it. Having said that, I underestimated the complexity of her pose. Out of all the secret santa gifts, yours was perhaps the most technically challenging.

I did my best to get the pose up to the highest standards of quality, but alas, there remains errors in anatomy, particularly around her neck and head, and around the area where her leg on the left side of the image joins her waist.

But I do hope you get some small enjoyment out of this gift, dude. As an OC, she is definitely a very interesting character, and I can totally see her maybe being a popular icon in pop culture someday.
