[Story-
Today was the day the Exile's were to return home, Kanu had received the news late and was now frantically trying to find his family so he could say goodbye- even if it was just brief- before they had to part ways and join their own groups. It didn't take long thankfully, and once he found his beautiful fiance and gorgeous daughter he ran to them, embracing them once the space had been closed between them. These two mares were his world, his blood, his life. He would be dead if it weren't for their love. He hated having to leave them, especially when it had been so long since Lena had been to the Southern Isles, and Dawne hadn't even been. He knew it would be dangerous, but he also had to have faith that they'd be able to do it, because they were both incredibly strong.
After Kanu had given Lena a rather long goodbye, he turned to little Dawne, smiling warmly as he cooed for her so she could know where he was standing. He lowered his head and tapped her on the muzzle,
"Dawne, I need you to be a big girl now and look after mummy, make sure you stay with her and don't be afraid to speak up if anything's bothering you or you don't feel well." He waited for her acknowledgment before chuckling, she was just the apple of his eye. He didn't know he could admire someone so much. "Be good little one, I love you and I'll see you soon..." He gave her one last hug before kissing Lena goodbye and making his way to his own group, a tear pricking his eye out of worry for his family.]

This is beautiful, Jodi. The warm colors, the loving look in al of their faces. I LOVE the way that you shaded this; it's so dramatic, but it also has a softness in it that just makes the whole picture.
