Well, i like the light effects.And the way smoke. It must be hard to capture, bad lens or not

it's not as hard as everyone thinks though
you just need the proper amount of light
and a contradictory background
(ie: capturing dark smoke on a white background, or white smoke on a dark background)

yes actually, my method is quite odd. this is what i generally do:
1: put object giving off smoke in front of a light source (preferably natural light)
2: for the camera flash, i cover most of it up with a large paper or sticky notes, so the light goes behind the camera, but slightly shines on the object
usually the focal length varies, and same with ISO speed

thanks, the paper idea sounds like an excellent way to diffuse flash without blowing cash on a diffuser
do you always use flash for smoke?

not always, just when there isn't enough light around to properly see the object and/or smoke
