Description Another reason to have this little scene: it certainly looks like Otto knows his way around robots!

As for the eye thing here, that's inspired by my experiences becoming a doctor of Chiropractic. Your body can give you really strange signs that bad things are happening inside of you. If one of your eyes is doing something slightly weird (one pupil a tiny bit dilated more than the other, one eye more glassy than the other) a world of crazy things can be going wrong in your bod. Some super serious, some minor. Best to get diagnosed!
I imagine working with machines is similar.

I think that's cool that you're becoming a doctor and still doing this comic. One of my best friends in high school was the daughter of a chiropractor and so I heard a lot of chiropractic stories. Those guys are like health magicians, honestly. XD Good luck becoming one.

Thanks! We do work miracles, but only in the sense that nobody is used to being treated in ways that don't involve surgery and pills.

Very clever and concise way to express his robot knowledge, and a nice overall setting! Good stuff!

Oh man! I know what you mean about those tiny signals! it's the same with animals, except they can't tell you what they're feeling so you have to be really observant.

And anyone who knows a lot about robots earns my respect automatically especialy if he is a fellow ace you go Otto!

Β I know I have been miserably inactive Zim. I've been a bit preoccupied though. Getting ready for college! Β  Thanks for the mention Β

Oh yeah. Β  I haven't gotten to draw much more than scribbles lately. :/ Β Ah well, it's gotta be worth it in the end.Β

Hmm, considering mismatched eyes is a sign of other things (some quite sinister) within humans, I wonder if Otto is a Doctor of Humanity or a Doctor of Robotics?

I like the tiny scene in the foreground of the last panel. Β The little one looks so pleased to get a flag from the robot.

I've always found it interesting how we imagine robots having glowing lights in their eyes. I think that would interfere with their ability to see, especially if the light is tinted and not white. After all, our own eyes are designed to absorb light, not emanate it.

sleepcircle In reply to JZLobo [2014-07-03 20:01:35 +0000 UTC]

What iiiiif. Hm. Stereoscopic colour vision would be a much more expensive computational issue and require more delicate hardware. Maybe most robots have eyes moreΒ like radar domes, and the eyes house a small radar or some other type of depth finder. MaybeΒ instead of stereoscopic colour vision, robots with solid glowing eyes can't see colour, and only scan the radar data into a z-buffer like thisΒ img704.imageshack.us/img704/54…

Huh, that's a pretty cool theory. Someone should use that sometime.

Maybe robots have something similar to a tapetum lucidum, so they can reflect light.

BlazingCoral [2014-07-03 14:48:27 +0000 UTC]

Huh... I'm wondering if he wanted the robot to leave, or if he was genuinely concerned about it... Judging from his expression, I'm guessing the latter.

I'm really liking this character! I don't know why exactly, but I do. XD

It looks like Otto knows a thingΒ or two about 'bots.

And/or he wants this one to go away. XD

But he took the time to lower his glasses to ascertain the eye-color difference, so it looks like he genuinely cares.

Chiropractic, hmm?Β  I need to find one of those where I am soon.

...Do you know anything about constant dizziness that won't go away? The eye doctor said it was probably my ears...but the ear doctor couldn't figure it out either, as my ears tested out fine.Β  I have to get more tests (inner ear infection?), but the soonest I can get in is a month from now, and this is driving me insane.Β  They said it could also be neurological and that has me scared.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DrZime In reply to VioletWhirlwind [2014-07-03 11:19:30 +0000 UTC]

Definitely see a chiropractor. If it's nerves, a chiropractor will figure it out (we're also known as "nerve doctors").

Now I feel slightly worried because I often get one eye bloodshot for a while. But eh, I already know something must be up, it's just that checking most of it out is not an option for multiple reasons.

I'm so curious about future pages! Also your update schedule is really impressive.

DrZime In reply to Oly-RRR [2014-07-03 13:29:58 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! My update schedule for my previous comic was even more extreme. :0 Unfortunately I don't have the time to be crazy to that extent anymore.

Oly-RRR In reply to DrZime [2014-07-03 14:43:27 +0000 UTC]

It's still pretty extreme in my book, I can rarely do more than page per week and usually it's even less than that. I blame my job but I blame it for a lot of things these days.

The art in your comics is also more detailed than mine, so I don't blame you. :0
I just do it quick and dirty!
