I think I can see the problem here.
Jup has a big soft spots for kids, that gives me the notion that MAYBE he let kids get away from things. So while I'm sure Tom was a good kid, maybe at times when he acted up Jupiter never really 'laid down the law' with him. This giving me the sumption that he never truly ever told Tom 'no'. Which could explain why Tom is SO insistent here despite Juptier showing all signs of negativity.
He probably never told Tom no. And the first time he does will have mejor impact on their interactions since I'm sure Jupiter had never been a 'dicilplinary'.

Y'know the adage, 'spare the rod + spoil the child'? Β Well, it's from a fairy tale where a little girl is allowed to get everything she wants via temper tantrums. Β Well, one day she became gravely ill, eventually dying. Β After she was buried, her little hand poked through the ground in defiance till eventually her mother snapped and struck it with a switch, causing it to retreat. Β I believe you are hitting the nail on the head, and this is Jupe's version of that moment....
