Prize art for: ~Chibi-Peanut , who got 3rd place in my contest.She wanted me to do a picture of Samus Aran and Rundas from Metroid Prime 3.
Anyhoo, it was so hard to get them both to fit on an 8 by 11 in. piece of printer paper, so I went and did them a little more cartoony than my normal stuff.
This is not a pairing.
Some of you may notice my designs are not spot-on, particularly on Rundas. Why is he so different? Quite simply - he's extremely simplified, and cartoonified. Just some stylistic changes.

Haha... yeah... I kinda found some of Rundas lines semi-shippable or at least one sided on his part. He was so full of himself in reality. But I was like-- he sooo is showing off, "look at me *Samus weee* I just save the damsel, love me I'm better then Youuuu!" (... the things I think up... <_<) I have yet to beat that game... among many others... (Though I know how the game ends and what happens to all the other hunters. I like watching other play games >_>)
I love the stylized look of these two, awesome lines. I actually like Rundas more this way. Your rich colors and beautiful cartoonified art really delights me. <3 Nice cold/ice effects on his feet and hands.

I can see how everyone thinks this is a pairing and to a certain extent, I guess they could be a pair. However, I totally see them as best friends, since Rundas helped Samus the most out of all the hunters in MP3 and they probably have a friendly rivalry.
I love how you drew these two. Samus' pose shows that she's a female that can still kick your butt and Rundas came out great! It must have been very difficult to simplify him into a cartoon form since he's so detailed and it's hard to make out how he truly looks. I also adore the fact that you put some snow/ice around his feet; small details like that makes this look great as whole.

Wow. I just beat the game, and then I remembered you drew this. -glares at planet Bryyo- SO SAD. -snuggles Rundas plushie- I'm gonna miss him.
You know, at the beginning of the game I didn't know what the bloody heck his name was, so I just called him 'mister awesome guy'. X3
Looooved him. Until Dark Damus had to go and mess with my favorite video game character of all time -grumble grumble- Why couldn't she just kill off Gandrya and leave it be? -_-

I know he doesn't look totally like himself. But, there's a lack of reference online and I wanted to do them as simplistically as possible.

well, the simplicity is not the problem here, and before I continue, I must say that I really like this picture, so you don't think I'm offending you or anything, but the problem is the face, body, hands ... Rundas doesn't have hands ... and ... again, it's great, but it just isn't Rundas ... I've seen a few references on the interwebs, but I'm not sure if they were good references ... I'm sure you could have made him a bit more accurate though ... but again, this is still an awesome pic.
I'm a Metroid fan, so I have a clear picture of Rundas in my mind, but I'm sure few people have that privilege. And again, I like this pic. i's kol.
