The third unit created by the ASSC project, the Rush Blade, or RB, Mantis is designed to be the ultimate close range combatant. It's powerful type 1 engine and extra steer jets combined with the units natural grace and flexibility give it the maximum agility and performance available. But what's the point of getting in close if you can't back it up with some weaponry? That's exactly what the RB Mantis has, in a very unique fashion. Equipped with the world's only Life Blade system, the Mantis's bladed claws and feet are more versatile than an entire armory of swords. The idea behind the Life Blade system is simple: Form an edged weapon from millions of tiny, durable ceramic nanomachines, arranged so that by moving around the the blade as a whole can bend and shift to form new shapes. The experiments leading to the system's creation went so well, that the ASSC design time decided to build a close-ranged unit around the idea! Further, when a protoype test-bed unit was assigned to the RB Mantis's future pilot, her performance exceded even the design team's high expectations! Her effortless manipulation of the nanomachines was so complete, the blade appeared to move and flow as if it were a living thing, from whence theLife Blade system gets its name. The final design for the arm blade housing, while unconventional in appearance, is designed around this concept; the blades can be moved to anywhere in the units range of motion. In addition to another set of four Life Blades on the feet, the unit is armed with the Ruby's Eye scattering beam gun. Though very weak, the gun fires random bolts of beam-energy at a wide angle like a shotgun blast. Because of it's low output the weapon can be fired for sustained periods, covering the target area with fire. Finally, the unit has the option of exchanging its Life Blade arms for the more human-like Claw Manipulators in special situations. The manipulators come equpped with retractable Flip Claws in the fingers for emergency combat.

Yeah. I especially borrowed from his design in creating the head. I was wonde5ring if anyone would notice the similarity.

Again, I applaude to your imagination and design.
The "final" version (a.k.a. my version) of this unit will be viewable when I get the sketch done. I just hope it will be as likeable as yours here.

Well, thank you! I wanted to go for something really unique here. I hope it isn't too unique, though.

I agree with you, it really looks very unique. Nothing wrong with that, though.
Like I did with the FS Cure, I will be making my version of RB Mantis more humanlike, so it might look almost completely different than this here. And, of course, I'll try to keep some aspects as similar to this picture as possible.

The original, or that weird-ass movie they made in the 80's?

Yeah, stupid question. How on earth could this bizarre thing have any connection to the original cartoon form the 20's. Hey, remember the "Master Cylinder"? Or how about the "Head Hunters?"

I think that it was connected by the main cast, but it was a bloody awesome movie.
