No he isn't, an Error is actually a species not a character who needs an AU to exist, they just need to stay a little too long in the anti-void to turn into Errors, same as what happened to Blueberror- An Error Pap was shown as a canon character along side Error Undyne during theask-error-sans' canon story. They were ment to have a bigger role later in the story but yeah Error Papyrus is canon, he's not related to Error Sans but he exist (probably from a disbelief timeline)

Error Sans is future Geno Sans, who after getting his happy ending ended up trapped in the anti-void because he was playing with the determination/code
He stayed there too long and became Error Sans

The Errors are my favorite characters so I can get a little offended when people call them fanon or other fake facts
Just don't go saying what's fanon or not without double checking first ✨
for a fact the canon Error characters are Error Undyne, Error Papyrus, Error Sans and Error Swap Sans (aka poor Blueberror) the other are mostly fanon since they weren't made by CQ

Error and Geno canonically never interacted before- you're mixing fanon with canon again, or maybe you're mistaking with the Fatal Error comic-
Also once a character become an Error they basically impersonate their last thoughts as CQ said, Geno in his last moments hated everyone and everything for ruining his happy ending, which in turns made Error Sans into a being who seeks destruction because he hates the AUs and sees them as glitches. Just like how Geno was determined to get a happy ending Error is determined to exterminate the AUs
Both Geno and Error are nearsighted too, the glasses Error owns belonged to Geno after the end of AfterTale : sta.sh/0qoiyx8vg10
Error is what happens if Geno becomes insane, Error is so insane he can't begin to realize what's he's doing is wrong, but as CQ mentioned, if he knew he'd kill himself

Yeah I get it, fanon usually distort a lot of things (like how some people thinks Error, Geno and Fresh are brothers- or how some people think Ink or Dream are girls-)
If you need some explanations about what's canon or fanon I can always help, but either way if you like fanon Error better that's fine too as long as you can differentiate fanon from canon ✨
