You may have heard of Melody Hensley, the feminist who claims to have acquired PTSD from reading words on a screen. She's not budging from the claim either. I've been reading about it and there's some really ugly hatred being directed at veterans by the white knights rushing to her aid, so I'm not even going to link to it here. I get that physical bullying can cause PTSD, but getting it from the internet? All you have to do is turn off the computer. Read a book, or some other leisure activity that doesn't require 24-hour access to twitter/facebook. Just take a break from the internet, for crying out loud.
Besides, most of the death threats that I have personally seen turned out to be the bluff that you'd get from a 12 year old trying to sound tougher than he really is.

Oh geez. It really isn't helpful to compare sufferings. People who suffer from the trauma of war need a certain kind of help. People who suffer abuse from assholes online also need help, albeit of a different kind. It would be nice if we lived in a world without war. It would also be nice if we lived in a world where people showed each other common decency online. I don't think either case is going to happen any time soon, but even so, they're not mutually exclusive. I don't understand what you're trying to achieve by continuing the pissing contest that this lady started?

I guess you could say all suffering exists on a continuum. What I'm trying to achieve is drawing a line on that continuum that shouldn't be crossed. Melody Hensley not only crossed that line, but actually mocked and belittled the suffering of enlisted servicemen and combat veterans and continues to do so. Then when called on it, she threatened to report them to their commanding officers. I'm no fan of war, in fact I consider myself a pacifist. I hate the military industrial complex and what it does to both nations around the world and its own soldiers. But what Melody did was plain disrespectful.

It was earlier this year, looks like about April. She's been steadfastly refusing to back down from it and has threatened to go to the superior officers of US army servicemen who questioned her about it.
